Is it Authoritarianism? (an enraging rant)

Just WHO is being arrogant?

I have recently written a hub expressing America’s Exceptionalism. I pointed out to where many Americans today believe that we have become arrogant. Mr. Bush has been deemed arrogant with some of his “cowboy” tactics. The following is yet another enraging RANT of mine over this current administration.

I think arrogant is more of a description of our current POTUS, who last week expressed his arrogance when he once again decided to NOT follow our Constitution and by-pass our means of “checks and balances”. In an unprecedented fashion he used his executive authority to appoint Richard Cordray to become director of the new and highly contested Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). His only explanation was “We can’t wait!” , so a “Recess” appointment was made, but the only problem was there was NO recess. Along with Cordray, he made two other appointments to the National Labor Relations Board which neither one have had any formal background checks on them that is required by law, to determine any potentially conflicts of interests that they may have had in their past. This is clearly goes against the Senates ‘advice and consent’ duties put in place to weed out nominees who are not deemed appropriate to fulfill the position at task. To boot, the rules also demand that action cannot be taken on any nominee until five days after the paperwork is filed, which was also violated.

According to former U.S. Attorney General Ed Meese “Never before has a president purported to make a ‘recess’ appointment when the Senate is demonstrably not in recess,” and further stating that this is a “constitutional abuse of a high order”.

What did his “arrogance” accomplish through this undermining task? Well, now the newly instituted CFPB has complete authority to issue more regulations and red tape without congress approval to business’ across our land that could completely strangle business growth and the NLRB now has expanded powers to strengthen Unions that is already putting a damper on the badly needed jobs in this country.

The time has come where all citizens concerned by the actions of this president must take a stand against him and his arrogant authoritarianism.

.........where are the conservatives on this issue? I am not hearing much at all over this and it drives me crazy?

Obama's arrogance knows no bounds and will only get worse from here. We must do all we can to defeat this arrogant, narcissistic dictator wannabe come November. If he wins, impeachment should begin immediately or this country doesn't stand a chance of survival under his wholly-inadequate, so-called leadership into the abyss of Socialism.

Excellent hub, Chris!!!

AR,

Hannity is about the only one that I have heard rant about it.

It may become a big deal, because I hear there may be some lawsuits brought forth.

We will see...I'm not holding my breath though.

Thanks Longhunter, I agree that he needs to be fired and removed from the office.

I appreciate your support.

Great rant C,

It points out just how far that traitor to the U.S. is willing to go to achieve his goal of destroying our country. Why can't the Dems. see what is happening? Do they really think becoming a socialist nation will solve anything? Voted up & interesting! Keep 'em coming.

I wish that we at least had a responsible congress that would keep the president in check. Democrats will never impeach a Democrat and Republicans will never impeach a Republican. It's a broken system.

Thanks geordmc,

It comes down to what is best for America....those on the left are just as passionate, but in my eyes very dangerous for the future of this nation.

michigan, YES our system IS broken....I wish people would just start doing what is RIGHT for this country, apply a little common sense and leave the political party crap at the door.

Thanks for your comment

Chris - The sad part of this is his loyal followers view this as a great act of courage on Obama's part. To them, this was a long overdue act showing great leadership from the man they worship. This should tell us how far we have sunk when actions like this are admired by so many.

Great job of writing my friend.

Morning Chris.

Not being or living in the USA I don't think I have the right to comment on your politic's.

One thing I would like to point out though is that in old Greek Politic is very interesting.

POLI = many

TIC = is a small blood sucking creature.

Put it together and you have many blood sucking creatures.

It doesn't matter which country you live in they are all the same. A bunch of very rich people that try to suck the very last penny from our almost empty bank accounts, I mean when you still have one.

The sad thing is, it doesn't matter what side of the fence you vote they are all the same. Have you ever seen a poor politician???

Sorry to go on but we have the same problems over here in Europe.

Sometimes it's better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.

Take care Chris.

Mike,

It IS rather bothersome to think that so many are blindly loyal to this man, who honestly believe that he is making things better for all Amerians.

It is painfully obvious that many of his policies and his plans are wrong, by common sense standards, but that some of them are constitutionally wrong.

Thanks, as always, you and I seem to line up with most things.

No need to say sorry, you are always welcome to come by and give me your thoughts...lol, blood sucking creatures!! that is GREAT, and amazingly, spot on!

I knew from the title this would be a good hub--and of course, it was! When it comes to ranting you rant with the best, but at least you rant about things that we should rant about. It's time for America to step up.

His arrogance, in my opinion, is only trumped by his blatent disregard for our country’s heritage, founding principals, and for the democratic process altogether. His list of "crimes" against America is ever growing. How can it not be a crime to pass legislation in secret, to bankrupt the nation, to by-pass congress, to appoint Czars of all things without bothering to run the mandatory background checks for appointees, so forth and so for longer than I can type. I'm really fed up and any current Conservative that wants my undying gratitude and support has but to file charges!

Outstanding hub for common sense, courage, truth, spirit and respect for the American way!

I believe all of us are feeling a great sense of frustration. Those who we put in office to represent us are now running wild, breaking the laws, and defying the Constitution this country was founded on. Yet we can apparently do nothing about it. We can't call the Constitutional Police, because there are none. The only one who could stop this is the very one who is doing it. I have never felt this frustrated in my entire life. If this trend is allowed to continue, we will truly end up as slaves of our own government. To some degree, we already are, but it will then become official.

Just another step in the "fundamental transformation" process don't ya know. This unelected official now has ultimate power over OUR bank accounts! When TSHTF they can put in regulations "to protect us" and limit the access we have to our own money. They're already doing it in Italy with nary a whimper.

We're all shouting at the top of our lungs but most people won't wake up until it hits them over the head.

Chris,

I wish that you would send me a link via e-mail when you publish a new hub. I'm not getting any notices, and I just ran across this by happenstance. You are my buddy and I want to give you as good of of support as you give me. You nailed it. Here my friend. I've said many times that the president and his wife are two of the most arrogant people that I've ever seen in my life, and it is that arrogance that will make him a sad chapter in American history.

I'm talking to a lot of people who aren't getting notices from the hub pages as well. There are a few of us who send each other links when we publish. I would appreciate it if you would be in that little group.

Even more disturbing is the relative silence of Congress. Whether they are Republicans or Democrats, they should not allow the executive branch to usurp their powers!

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

Will, why is that? The media say nothing, and that does not surprise me, but WHY are the republicans NOT making this an issue, because it IS an ISSUE!

It is VERY Disturbing indeed!

Credence2 profile image

Greetings, Chris I am going to disagree as expected .the GOP is just making an excuse to avoid the creation of such an agency in the interests of protecting their well heeled buddies from the inconvience of having to operate within guidelines other than their own.

The GOP can bring this on and see how far it goes.....

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

Hi Credence, good to see ya,

There are no excuses.....Obama clearly made a “Recess” appointment during NO recess....it was a backdoor attempt to get his way.

It is as I mentioned above, a constitutional abuse of a high order.

He has not been prone to backdoor attempts in getting his way...by unconstitutional measures.

such as his Fast and Furious program...was, as we are finding out is unconstitutional.

his numberous Czar appointments is unconstitutional

his healthcare bill is unconstitutional

his government ownership of GM is unconstitutional

Recently after he signed his trillion buck spending bill..he is skirting with by-passing a provision in it where the National Institute of Health cannot use any of their funds to ‘advocate or promote gun control.’

this one is going to be interesting too...

I think the GOP is doing a bang up job, the media is trying so hard to make them the bad guys...

You are getting me fired up for anther rant, credence..lol.
