Tevya is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, September 8, 2014. Our feisty and wise friend, Wasp Tevya, is at the breakfast table. He is shaking his head in disbelief at the tepid response President Obama has had to the terror crisis at our doorstep. Tevya has asked that you join him for breakfast this morning. He has prepared 800 potato latkes for breakfast. I will match each serving with a delicious Bloody Mary. We hope to see you soon for a meal and a chat.

What is it Going to Be?

Thank you all for coming to the table this morning. I should have prepared waffles for breakfast to emphasize your president's reaction to this growing terror threat from ISIS. Initially, President Obama characterized ISIS as a junior varsity team. Then he changed their name to ISIL and admitted that his strategy for dealing with them was not to have a strategy at all. He came under fire from most normal people for being so unprepared so he tried to toughen up a bit. He sought a coalition from other countries, which was a good move, but he didn't commit the United States to taking a leadership role. That's just not his style, his attitude or his resolve. Supposedly, President Obama is scheduled to address the nation this week and go into further detail about his plan. We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, all we have is a bunch of disjointed and wishy-washy, flip-flop words. ISIS waits for no one. President Obama is too slow, too indecisive and unwilling to take advice from experts who know far more than he does or ever will. That puts all of you in grave danger. Sitting down and discussing your fate with Joe Biden and John Kerry is akin to sitting down with the Magilla Gorilla and Mighty Joe Young. It just doesn't bring results.

Justice Will be Served

President Obama has said that justice will be served. He was referring to the savage beheading of yet another American journalist, Steven Sotloff. He spoke of building a better, new and inclusive government in Baghdad. Perhaps he should have thought of that before he announced an American victory and pulled out of Iraq. Thus far he has not addressed expanding air strikes into Syria. He cautioned that it would take time to roll terrorist operations back. So, my friends, here is the point. Phrases like, "rolling back", and "weighing options" just don't cut it. ISIS is lopping off the heads of American citizens and the president is proceeding with caution and rhetoric. The worst choice of language is President Obama's stated goal of making the problem "manageable,". Can terrorism be managed? Should terrorism be seen as an ongoing problem that must be managed? Shouldn't the goal of any civilized nation be to destroy these animals once and for all? Frankly, your president should be thinking in terms of ridding the planet of ISIS and all other groups like them forever. It is now or never and it has to be now!

No More Rhetoric!

Let me respectfully suggest that the time for rhetoric is over. What needs to be done has to involve every capability the United States possesses. Surely, America has the resources to locate the ISIS training camps in Syria. Surely, the United States can destroy these camps. If America can't figure out how to do it, they should ask the Israelis. This shouldn't be a long and protracted affair. It should be swift, thorough and ruthless. The goal is the complete destruction of ISIS, al Qaeda and every other despicable group like them. It is time to get serious. America must be made safe. Right now, American citizens are in danger. The borders are open, unattended and a tasty invitation for all manner of scum to enter freely. It is now known that American citizens have joined ISIS. It has been repeated over and over again that they have valid passports and can return to America whenever they want. This is impossible, in my view. Every one of these people must be detained and imprisioned. Surely, this great country that can spot a pea on the ground from a satellite can find these people.

Time is running out.....

Tevya's Song

Dear God, you made so many terrorists

It's a great shame to be a terrorist

But it's worse to let them live to kill again....
