New Hampshire primary is in the Mitt

Updated on January 11, 2012

Saving the soul of America

The New Hampshire primary is in the Mitt for Romney. "Tonight we celebrate; tomorrow we go back to work,” the jubilant Romney, told New Hampshire supporters.

In the spirit of former Republican President, Ronald Reagan, Romney expressed to those gathered, Americans "...still believe in a shining city on the hill."

These were lofty words indeed when uttered by the late Republican President. And remain so when echoed by lesser candidates. Yet, for the New Hampshire victor, what is this shining city on the hill comprised of?

As the former Governor's speech continued, Americans were given a glimpse into Romney's "shining city" ideal. The former Governor Stated:

“You know our campaign is about more than replacing a President — it's about saving the soul of America,”

With these words, Romney imparted a truth upon the New Hampshire crowds, seldom heard within political circles. And though the message comes across as a bit Obama-nisc on the surface, there is no doubt the soul of America is quite certainly in need of saving.

In a country where only 15% of young men and women report to "remain virgins till the age of 21." and where "75 percent of teenagers have had intercourse by the time they turn 20," the soul of America is absolutely in need of saving.

When a country finds itself immersed in a culture where "52% of women obtaining abortions are younger than 25" and "women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions" while teen girls "obtain 20%" and "girls under 15 account for 1.2% of all American abortions. Truer words could not have been communicated at the New Hampshire primary.

So how does the not-so-conservative Romney, plan on delivering this "shining city on the hill?" How does the former Governor intend to save the soul of America? In the words of the New Hampshire champ:

“I want you to remember what it was like to think about what college you were going to send your kids to instead of worrying about making it to your next paycheck, that America is still out there.”

The answer is, money. Heck, if the almighty dollar will buy a presidential election than certainly it can buy us a "shining city on the hill." And that's how we save the soul of America. Sound like a plan - onto South Carolina we go!
