Buzzy is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Our dear friend Buzzy, the proverbial fly on the wall, is with me today. He just returned from a "fly by" in Tennessee and he has something to report about what children are being taught. Please join us for breakfast. Buzzy and I will be serving freshly baked corn bread with butter and jelly. A delicious Irish Coffee will be the crowning touch to the meal. See you soon.

Brainwashing in the Schools

Thank you all for joining me this morning. I have been in Tennessee for awhile, spending a good deal of time in the schools. When I was not in the classroom, I was knee deep in the texts being used by students. What I discovered is sickening. Children are being taught that Israel is the cause of trouble in the Middle East. A group that weeds out and fights anti-Semitism has asked the governor of Tennessee to launch an investigation. Not only is anti-Semitism implicit in the books, but anti-Christian sentiments are there, as well. The texts are completely inaccurate about our history and loaded with deliberate misinformation to twist young minds from elementary school through high school. In one of the schools students were being taught about Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan and his hideous accusations about Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

Islam Taking Precedence

Increasingly, public schools have been eliminating Judeo- Christianity from public schools. In its place are discussions about Islam. Needless to say, the information is inaccurate and biased. Texts give a totally false description of Islam's treatment of women. They never talk about a husband's legal right to beat his wife. Students will not be reading about "honor killings" which permit the murder of a daughter who dates a Christian.

My focus today is on Tennessee, but many of the same things are going on in other states. One of those states is Florida which teaches gullible children that just a few followers of Jesus spread the story of his resurrection. The text teach Florida students that the Quran permitted fair, defensive warfare, known as jihad. The purpose behind much of the texts is to undermine the teachings of the Bible and to introduce a completely inaccurate view of Islam.

Common Core Makes It Worse

In conjunction with this whitewashing and distortion of history comes the implementation of Common Core standards throughout our nation. The original purpose of Common Core was in and of itself not heinous. It started out as an attempt to raise standards in the schools and make the United States more competitive with other countries. As do most things involving the federal government, something went awry. Schools were losing their autonomy and in many cases their standards were being lowered. The regulations attached to the program are narrow and restrictive. Testing will be all important and in the process something essential will be gone from the teacher student relationship. Although the original goal of the program was to make educational standards consistent throughout the nation, the true result is that education has become political and totally inappropriate. The net effect is that our children are being brainwashed. The future leaders of America won't know a damn thing about America and I can't imagine anythng worse happening.

Get Involved

Between Common Core and the textbook industry, our children are in jeopardy. That puts all of us in danger. The only thing we can do is get involved. Whether it is your children or grandchildren, stay on top of things. Read the textbooks and make a huge stink about inaccuracies, bias and downright lies. This past year has shown support for Common Core to be waning. The more states and teachers learn about the program, the less they like it. The federal government has introduced financial incentives to make supporting the program advantageous. Giving up this kind of financial support is not easy, but more and more states are opting out. In light of the facts that are emerging about this program, opting out is a good thing.

Ignorance is not bliss. Find out what's going on and do something about it.

Buzzy's Song

School Days, school days

Not so golden school days

Lies, distortion and bias are the way

Get informed and save the day!
