PA Labor and Union Report--October 6
Solidarity With Oregon
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO expressed sympathy, prayers and condolence to those affected by the latest mass shooting in Oregon.
Labor Works to Build Strength
State AFL-CIO President Rich Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder led a meeting of the State's Central Labor Councils and Area Labor Federations.
The meeting covered the progress made over the last ten years under the "New Alliance" strategy. Which according to President Bloomingdale has served labor well. There are challenges though.
The most immediate challenge is the upcoming elections, which will call for a massive education and mobilization of labor and its allies.
Celebrating an Alliance
On September 28, President Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Snyder helped to lead a "Labor in The Pulpit" celebration at Harrisburg's St. Paul Baptist Church.
The event celebrated the success of the partnership between labor and the civil rights community.
"As long as we stay together we can meet the challenges we share as working people and as citizens," said Secretary-Treasurer Snyder.
