Remembering 9/11/2001 and freedom
Can you believe it has been ten years?...that's all we've been hearing...Can you believe you still remember where you were and what you were doing when it happened? Can you believe that ten years later so many lives have been lost and so much of our everyday lives has changed, and for what, religion? That is what they hid behind. Their attempted usurpation of our country to make us fall to our knees and honor their religion because they would win through their shocking acts of terrorism, their sacrifice of life. The sacrifice of life, which they were fed to believe, would open our eyes to their ways. They were going to make us pay for our freedoms, our country, and our belief that each person is an individual and can decide for themselves. People who live within the borders of the United States of America and can decide not only what to believe in, but who they choose to believe in through their choice of religion, or a Nation filled with those that can choose not to believe in any higher power at all.
My question to you is what was this country founded on? Have you ever read the "Declaration of Independence"? I was not required to, however, my Mom can recite it verbatum to this day and I have heard her recite it. It is a document that states that this country was founded on "TRUE FREEDOM"...freedom of religion, freedom of choice, freedom of movement between populations entering other areas (open borders). Freedom from usurpations of this country. Freedom from a Government that has total control. We have long since been a country called the "melting pot", always allowing others to enter and leave at will. 9/11/2001 changed that by inhibiting our freedoms making us all suspects of terrorism or radicalism if we stand out too much or have the characteristics or religion that link us to that "type" of person that started this "war". We have not done anything to deter from this...lawsuits to take "In God We Trust" off money, taking any prayers out of sports, trying to stop "one Nation, under God" from being a part of the Pledge of Alligiance. We, ourselves, are trying to take away freedom of religion and the freedom to believe that this country was founded on good foundation by taking away from what has been a part of us for so long. Work toward taking the things that have a negative impact. Keep the good we were founded on. When you start taking away from the good where does it end? Where does it get to the point where we are no better off than when we were at this country's beginning? Where do we end the affects? Where do we stop to say, we have a voice? We have to emancipate "liberate" ourselves from government. Do we have so much choice that we have too many freedoms? Do we ALL take these freedoms and misuse them?
We have had the freedom in this country to become whatever, within our intelligence and power we could become. We have taken these freedoms for granted for so long and not given them a second thought, that now we are waning toward wanting legislation and laws to dictate all that we do and don't do. Have we taken these freedoms and sued and wrongfully accused to the point where we cannot turn back the clock and see that all the rights and freedoms this country were founded on are slowly going away? We have taken these freedoms and judged on the basis of color and race to the point that there are laws and legislation that protect those people that were prejudiced against and has protected them. When will we all look around us and see that we are all the same? We are all here for the same purpose, which is to become the best we can be no matter where we have come from, to be given the same opportunities no matter the color of our skin or the nation from which we were formed. The United States of America was founded on all of these freedoms. When will we take our FREEDOMS, use them for the betterment of all, and make this the TRUE country founded on the "Declaration of Independence"?
After 9/11/2001 there were so many flags flying, there was so much that all of us held in common. It bonded us together instead of driving us apart. If we find that same mindset today we can all get through all that OUR country is going through now and once again become the very United States of America that our "Declaration of Independence" declares that we will be. We were founded on ".....certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"...these were taken from those lost before and after 9/11...stand up for them..embrace them..live for them...they ALL died for this right.
