Romney + Amnesia = Romnesia

Updated on October 31, 2012

Selective Dementia

In the wake and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy it seems to even the untrained eye that, Mitt Romney is in the severe throws of Romnesia. Today Romney displayed the acute symtoms of the disease of Romnesia on several fronts while, President Obama got to work on cutting any possible bureaucratic red tape that allows F.E.M.A. to hit the ground running to help those affected by the storm. First, Mitt Romney initially continued to stand resolutely to dispose of FEMA and let the individual states be responsible for handling natural disasters within their own jurisdiction. Secondly, Romney's campaign not only started the lie that states, "Chrysler is shipping jobs to China". Third, allegedly cancelling campaign events on Monday & Tuesday only to re-brand some of the same event as Storm Relief events.

On the surface none of these things might not seem so bad, but when an ardent Romney surrogate Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ), praised President Obama's actions to jumpstart the effort to get F.E.M.A. into the game. When asked about whether F.E.M.A. should be shutdown or defunded, Romney replied “Absolutely. Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further, and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better." This comment was solicited durning the Republican Primary season in 2011 but when CNN Moderator John King asked, "if that should include disaster relief, though?"

Governor Romney's response was, "We cannot — we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids.It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we’ll all be dead and gone before it’s paid off. It makes no sense at all." Some people are not really concerned about their kids future years from now when some are facing dire straits today, what's going to happen next or right now within their immediate future is on the minds of many. Once he realized just how inappropriate his position was with regards to F.E.M.A., through a spokesperson he subtly tried to walk away from his previous position.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams said in a statement. “As the first responders, states are in the best position to aid affected individuals and communities, and to direct resources and assistance to where they are needed most. This includes help from the federal government and FEMA,” he added. Anybody with a scentilla of common sense should notice the obvious flip-flop as a condition of Romnesia.

Once before I've said that, "as a novelist and screenwriter I couldn't make this sort of stuff up on my best day." But this whole segment about this new lie being propagated by the Romney campaign about, the Chrysler Corp. shipping all of it's Jeep production lines and those jobs to China. Again these kind of blatant lies goes to exemplify the lengths to which the GOP will go to, to decieve the voting public. When they (the Romney Campaign) are called on the blatant falsehood, they don't come clean and say we lied about it. Instead they double down with a distorted TV Ad that basically continues to try and sell the same lie.

Yet when the Chrysler Corp refutes the issue of contention brought about by the Romney himself on the campaign trail, they (the Romney campaign) triples down on the lie in question by launching a radio ad that keeps the lie going. Chrysler clarified the issue by stating publicly that the Romney campaign was catagorically wrong, that they, Chrysler will in fact be adding 1100 jobs on the Jeep production line in Ohio and that they are not shipping them to China. They Chrysler also said that they'll be ramping up production in China for the Chinese Market period end of subject.

These are only the latest three symptoms of Romnesia to show the content of Romney's character. America really cannot afford to elect Romney because he really would undo all of the progress we've made the past four years. Taking us back to the policies that got us into trouble in the first place. His lack of finesse in the foreign affairs arena, there are situations that are fair too delicate to have a backwards neanderthal like Romney to go in swinging a big stick to provoke a Middle Eastern country into a boots on the ground war. America the presidential election is only 6 days away now, so pay attention the issues are critical to the survival of the middle class, our nation's economy and infrastructure.
