Rope-A-Dope Time Is Over

Updated on June 26, 2011

Where The Rubber Meets The Road

The concept Obama had in mind, appointing Little Joey Biden, to be the lead in the talks concerning reductions in spending, is coming to an end. There was a political agenda in putting the dope on the rope. I’ll get to that in a minute. Poke two holes in the ground and ask Biden, “Which is a hole and which is his butt hole?" I can guarantee you he wouldn’t know his butt hole from a hole in the ground. But the ploy worked for Obama temporarily.

Presidents lead, they don’t follow. Obama set the tone the first two years in office. He became a follower of Reid and Pelosi. Talk about the blind leading the blind. So lets look at the politics behind the negotiations that are coming to a head. Obama doesn’t want to lead because 1) he doesn’t know how and 2) the decisions that have to be made are painful. You see, when you are seeking reelection after having made over 500 promises, you don’t want to get any dirt under those manicured finger nails. It might alter your golf swing.

Spending has to be cut and cut drastically. The majority of American tax payers know this and accept it. Those who don’t pay any taxes want to pick their neighbors’ pockets and don’t understand why something as “great” as the Democratic party machine can’t pull off the impossible. Listen closely. There isn’t that much money available to do it. That is unless they want to chip in and start paying their fair share too. Even then there wouldn’t be enough. I offer proof of the pudding at this link.

The threat is that if they don’t increase the debt limit they’ll have to shut down the government. Really? Wasn’t that the same threat that was used to turn a $38 billion dollar spending reduction, which started out as a $100 billion cut, into a smoke and mirrors routine that really ended up being a $352 million piss in a bucket exercise? I said then and I say now, “Shut Er Down!” It’s an idle threat that is meant to scare the American public into submission. It’s the old rope-a-dope act.

The CBO didn’t bat an eye over the fact that they “supposedly” averted a disaster back in the spring. Did they revise their estimates of reducing the deficit or make a smidgeon of adjustment on the debt estimate? Not a penny. The only real result that is apparent seems to be in the housing market. While Foggy Bottom’s prices continue to go up, where have yours gone recently? The answer is down. That’s the greatest asset the average citizen has and we’re taking it up the yazoo once again. Yazoo is in Mississippi in case you didn’t notice, just look down between your legs to see it.

Are They Capable?

Sending rope-a-dope Joey into the fight was lame. It’s time that these lame brain, career pick pockets start thinking outside the box for once. Stop making the choices totally inane and filled chock full of stupidity. Yeah, the choices are to allow the government to default, raise the debt limit or require Obama to snatch the goodie basket from the hands of those who feel entitled to it. That’s total nonsense. Choose your entrée because that is what is on the menu with Little Joey yakking away.

Lets be bold and require a penalty kick in the game. Replace the debt limit, which is no more than a threat in the game, with something with some teeth in it. We’ll make Obama the kicker. Let him step into the kicking box for once. If he dares. I remember when cabinets met weekly to discuss such important matters. Now it’s Czar meetings with Trumpka in attendance. Hell, lets make them pubic so transparency is really transparency and not secret negotiations behind closed doors.

You know it’s the little things that amount to show and tell time. If the federal government can’t live within its own means then freeze all federal, Congressional and Obama’s salary and “PERKS” until they get their act in order. No recesses, no overseas junkets or hob nobbing but putting their noses to the grind stone until the fiscal ax is razor sharp. We pay those people to do that. I, for one, want my money’s worth. DRATS! There went the endless golfing and vacations.

Step Up To The Ball Obama. Show Us Your Game Son.

The talks this week are designed to make the President either lead or get off the pot. Tough decisions have to now be made. We’re paying all those cabinet members and Czars to do what? Aren’t these the same ideological elite who have all the answers? What they can’t do is think outside the box? Their prestigious academic credentials never taught them that.

Most Americans see an out of control federal government that thinks the printing press is the answer. It’s time for us to speak and let it be known that this is unacceptable. When was the last time you blasted your elected officials? I did it today and will do it every day and as often as necessary. If the American public is capable of thinking outside the box, why are our elected pick pockets stuck in the rut? Oh, it's reelection time, is it?

Egg Heads Or What?

Because we just don’t understand how things work on Capitol Hill? What a load of crap that is. We have the snapshot and don’t need the negatives any more. So now we’ll see what the much vaunted Obama has in his arsenal. I haven’t seen much in two and a half years and don’t expect him to suddenly become a George Patton or Douglas MacArthur. Those men understood you lead from the front, not the gold course or faraway on vacation at the tax payer’s expense.

As Patton would say, “You either need to lead or get the hell out of the way!”
