What Say You ‘Black Hippocrats’ Regarding Paula Deen?
In the Bible, the great King David disobeyed the Lord when the former took a census of the inhabitants of Israel and for David’s punishment… God told David to choose his punishment; and David in an act of contrition decided to leave his punishment to God because the warrior poet king knew that God is and always will be more merciful than if he had left it to men (1st Chronicles 21). And so it is that many who are crucifying Paula Deen for honestly reporting that she had used the word nigger some twenty-five years ago and who themselves have said or done acts worthy of condemnation are driving the nails and pouring salt in the wounds of Miss Deen.
It was not too long ago, as a young man, when I recalled that the Reverend Jessie Jackson used the racist term, “Hymie Town, ’ the Jewish version of ’nigger, ’ during his Presidential run, while addressing the Jewish community in New York - notice that Mr. Jackson distinguished himself with the supposedly moral title of ‘Reverend.’ I can tell you as an avowed Jesus Freak that forgiveness is one of the main cornerstone tenets of the Christian Faith, yet, to the Jacksons of the world, they have license to persecute and perpetually prosecute Paula Deen for using the ‘N’ word over two decades ago. Years ago, if I recalled correctly, I saw an HBO program that appeared to show the Reverend Al Sharpton and current pundit on MSNBC, caught up in an FBI drug sting… somehow, we have forgiven Reverend Al, but not Paula Deen. What ‘Hippocrats’ some of us Blacks are when we do not pick the two-by-four out of our own eyes, but point accusatory fingers at Miss Dean.
In the coming weeks to come, many rap artists will be releasing CDs and many of the lyrics on those CDs will be replete with references of ‘niggers, bitches, and hos’ and many of us who are malignantly criticizing Miss Deen are going to say that the use of those terms in the lyrics are harmless… rationalizing why the rappers can use these hateful, pejorative words to describe Blacks. Now, tell me, if my young children heard those lyrics by the rappers and then those same terms are used by Whites - how are the children to distinguish the difference in harm. In a similar vein, I wonder when some of us Blacks refer to Whites as ‘crackers, white trash, hicks, white boy, and honkeys, do those hateful references carry the same hurt for my White brothers and sisters too? For indeed as a Traditional Christian, I try to look at all situations that are common to the Human condition in the same moral light… no matter which race is facing these challenges… even the challenge of hatred coming from Blacks toward Whites.
In some of our Black enclaves, which carry the names of some of our historical heroes and sheroes - Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, MLK, Sojourner Truth - there have been many Black on Black murders… I wonder if those who have died or will die would have preferred to be called the ‘n’ word instead of dying prematurely and no longer breathing Jesus’ air? I wonder also what Reverend Jesse Jackson has to say about the wholesale slaughter of Black men being killed in his Chicago... and do we also forgive Jesse Jackson, Junior for his breaching of the public’s trust… so much so that he was convicted for said breaches? I wonder too if those who like to be referred to as Reverend this or that can answer the question if it is worse to blaspheme the name of the Christ or to call Blacks the ‘n’ word? We have directly or indirectly blasphemed the name of the Christ by supporting all manner of Biblical perversions, including gay marriages and Abortion, strutting and falsely thinking that we are better than the Paula Deens’ of the world - O foolish Americans, who have bewitched us?
Yesterday, a Texas politician, Wendy Davis, filibustered to prevent a law that would have prevented the late term murder of babies under Abortion - I can guarantee you that many of us who are crucifying Paula Deen see her more of a monster than those of us who have and will kill our children in the future via Abortion. If Miss Deen asked for forgiveness, as Christians, we should give it because we are commanded to do so as recorded in Mark 11:26: “…But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” If Miss Deen is feigning contrition… she will answer to Christ Jesus.
I tell Blacks that there are those Whites, who have voted for President Obama, and who are downright, rabid, racists living right here in New York because I have experienced and will experience said racism again… for the danger we Blacks face is not Paula Deen - it is those we call Progressive Democrats, who are privy to our 'business' because they are like the deadly, traitorous soldiers (Trojan Horse) in Homer's Lliad. Once again to borrow and to take license from the Movie, The Usual Suspects: the greatest trick that Democrats ever pulled off was to convince Blacks that they have their proverbial backs. Wake up Black folks!
