Do you think Snowden should be allowed to return here in the US?
I'll admit that I'm not super informed about all aspects of Snowden's situation. But, yes, I do think he should be allowed to return to the U.S. Whistle-blowers are one of many things that can help keep secretive governments honest (journalists are another, but that's a different subject). There are certain treasonous acts that shouldn't be forgiven, most of which involve severe endangerment to the lives of our citizens. But, as far as I know, Snowden was just pointing out that the NSA was saving tera-bytes worth of our personal data. Which seems somewhat tame compared to military acts of treason.
I can understand that but to run to Russia and ask their help, that will cause some problem if he wanted to return here.
When I look at the whole Snowden situation, I am ultimately appreciative that he was willing to put his self at such a risk to expose what the government was doing. What he did was very noble, and I believe that it was the right thing to do.
I think that he should be allowed to return to the US (if he even wants to) because he was just doing what he knew was right (and most people agree with him), and wanted to let the people of the US know about the things the government was doing in secrecy.
Overall I think he should be allowed, but unfortunately I think that if he is ever allowed back, he will be under heavy surveillance and will likely be spending the rest of his life in a federal prison.
Thanks for commenting and your points are well taken and they are valid reasons to let him come back here.
