He's a marketer at heart, defining Get Them Off The Raft Marketing which identifies the difference between Web 2.0 type marketing and old fashioned Teaching Frogs How To Drink Beer Marketing. He explains both here in HubPages and on his websites, as listed below.
As featured in his new book, Dream Inc which tells the million dollar secrets of 32 successful Philadelphia-area entrepreneurs and how Charlie founded StageMagazineOnline.com as one of his exciting projects, Charlie is a marketer with a heart for the arts and education, children, families, and how they all tie together... and an eye for how to tell their story to captivate other people. A fourth generation theater producer and director in the Philadelphia area who has worked tirelessly at the professional, community, university, summer, youth, and high school levels, his artistic abilities and genuine interest in promoting the well-being of live theater are complemented by his business strengths, particularly his expertise in business/arts marketing.
He founded Torn Ticket at Tufts University where he earned his BA in Economics and Music and was a founder of Wharton and the Arts at The Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his MBA in Marketing and Arts Administration. He has also studied Dan Kennedy's Direct Response Marketing and is a Gold Level Member of the Insiders Circle.
Charlie is no stranger to thinking big. He is an entrepreneur with a variety of interests and abilities as defined by the work he has done over the years. He honed his skills as a business marketer and entrepreneur after earning his MBA from The Wharton School in 1975. He sold $247,368,657.97 as a salesman and marketed more than $1 billion as the Vice President of Marketing for Jackson-Cross Company. His follow-up position as Senior Vice President of International Marketing at the architectural firm, The Hillier Group, further added to his business strengths. He still owns his own fine art personal photography business and shares his expertise with local theaters and arts organizations.
Artistically his life has also been rich. After he wrote "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (with NY composer Neil Radisch) as a major musical, helped lead McCarter Theater Company in Princeton and the Loretto-Hilton Repertory Theater in St. Louis, was the Producing Director and a Board Member for The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater, directed major musicals like "Sweeney Todd," "West Side Story," "Evita," "Follies," "A Chorus Line," "Rags," "Blood Brothers," and "Cabaret," traveled to Ocala, FL, Memphis, TN, and Kalamazoo, MI to direct theater, he was also the Artistic Director for Mask and Wig (the all-male troupe of the University of Pennsylvania) for three years.
His marketing consulting drives both his business and artistic sides, and he is a frequent speaker about The Art of Business and the Business of the Arts.
