I am a keen naturalist based in the north west of England. I dedicate my writings to all who love nature.

I am keen on all aspects of the British countryside particularly the north west of England that includes the Lake District.

I have spent my life in the countryside of Lancashire which has served to inspire my articles. I also lead walks during the spring and summer talking about the regions wild flora including their medicinal history and the many other ways that they have been utilised.I also explain how each species may have many country titles but only have one Latin {scientific} name along with their translations.

It is my intention to share my knowledge, especially with the younger citizens who after all are the future custodians of the countryside. It is a shame that nature has been left out of lessons given to infants in many areas.

WHAT IS LIFE, IF FULL OF CARE,

WE HAVE NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE?

NO TIME TO STAND BENEATH THE BOUGHS

AND STARE AS LONG AS SHEEP AND COWS.

NO TIME TO SEE, WHEN WOODS WE PASS, WHERE SQUIRRELS HIDE THEIR NUTS IN GRASS.

NO TIME TO SEE, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT,

STREAMS FULL OF STARS LIKE SKIES AT NIGHT.

NO TIME TO TURN AT BEAUTY'S GLANCE,

AND WATCH HER FEET, HOW THEY CAN DANCE.

NO TIME TO WAIT TILL HER MOUTH CAN,

ENRICH THAT SMILE HER EYES BEGAN.

A POOR LIFE THIS, IF FULL OF CARE,
