Social Issues Poet (SIP), spiritual writer, photographer and abstract artist - and shameless chocolate foodie living in Louisiana!

Yes, I'm female.  Denny is a nickname for Denise.  Besides, when I was in Journalism school as long as the professors thought I was male I got better grades.  As soon as they called roll half way through the semester they were shocked to realize I was female and proceeded to lower my grade.

Those male professors were some disappointed to realize what they thought was a promising fellow guy writer they wanted to promote was not male at all.  Such is life!  A 4.0 was no longer in my radar field after that.  Journalism school was where all the bigots seemed to converge at LSU.

OK, go ahead, ask me:  Do you give to the alumni association?  Answer:  Are you kidding?  It would only go to football programs and never to the poets or artists.

Grew up internationally and have a wide range of interests.  Lived in Taiwan, Greece, and Austria.  In America have lived in Maine, Nebraska, Kentucky, Louisiana, Georgia, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

Love little fur people with four feet.  When I was a kid I wanted to be a zoo vet just so I could have lots of different and interesting pets!

These days my current family pack are warrior cats:  Pearl, a petite black kitty who was a Hurricane Katrina rescue and half-dead when she adopted me - the smallest who really is a warrior kitty, don't mess with Miss Pearl.

When she first came to live with us she started to attack my husband for getting too close to me.  She literally had my back like any good strong warrior.  She meant business.  My husband looked at her and asked if she was going to rip his head off his shoulders.  Oddly enough, she listened to me and made friends with him.

Just to make sure she is on the right page with not hurting anyone we have little training sessions from time to time.  Is there a Masters degree for Cat Whisperer..?  Please skip the application papers and send the degree document.  I'll be sure to frame it right away.

Then there's Michael GoodDragon, born in the Chinese year of the dragon, a tuxedo black and white, he's in charge of being a prayer warrior turned mellow guy.  When he's sleeping he literally glows from the spiritual atmosphere he cultivates and you just know he really is praying.  He is special.

Curty Cartier is a burly yellow tiger who is a Special Forces warrior who only fights when given no choice and then he terrifies the yard terrorist who rarely returns to our back patio for a second round.  His favorite hobbies are eating, eating some more and sleeping in my office to guard me, don't you know.  He figured out Michael, the indoor cat who acts like a major domo, has a good gig going.

Leonardo, well, he's another tuxedo black and white who has an AKA (also known as) moniker:  Leonardo the Love Bandit.  He's getting bigger every day.  He doesn't fight the yard bullies; he can out run them.  He's such a show-off as he has more lung capacity than most cats and is very athletic.  Lord have mercy on the fool bully that might ever succeed in actually catching him as he can stand his ground quite well when motivated.  Curty is his uncle and fighting mentor and taught him well.

As you can tell, my cat family entertains my husband and me endlessly... enough of that, moving right along...

The formal education the school system recognizes: B. A. in Journalism from LSU in America.   Too many teachers, professors, engineers and physicists in the family to want to pursue teaching - so no Masters or Ph.D.   A journalism degree is great for tightening your writing, not teaching.

Besides, after meeting a Taoist Chinese spiritual master in Taiwan as a high school girl I soon learned the value of teaching from a completely different angle.  True, you don't get recognized or loudly lauded but then those of us with the true passion for teaching others "how to fish" (do for themselves) know that is just surface thinking.

Old Master intrigued me as he taught, like Jesus Christ, through unusual means rather than lectures.  And he used to chuckle at me calling me his little lioness who treasured the knowledge he gave - so much that I took it deep down into my inner home for safeguarding and repeated reading.

Though I remained a Christian, it really is good to get outside your comfort zone and learn from another spiritual person's perspective.  God blessed me with tremendous spiritual awareness as a result of those travels.  Meeting other people has wonderful results if you take the time and cultivate goodwill.

So, if you find yourself wondering why I decided to become one of your fans it's because I like to have lots of interesting mail coming in for a good read.  As a writer, it also helps to see what others find interesting to talk about - as it causes me to do some deep thinking - my most favorite subject.

I like my friends as eclectic as my interests!  Who wants to interact with a "mini me"?  That just elicits a loud yawn from this corner of the world.  I'm not in love with myself; I'm in love with life!  Won't you join me in the dance of life?
