In my forties - spent all of my 20's and 30's in a variety of prisons in England - 16 years in maximum security dispersal prisons and then 2 years in a Category "C" and 18 months in a Category "D", before being released 5 weeks short of 20 years.

I was released with one weeks worth of Job Seekers allowance of £45, and have not been able to find any work due to my criminal history.

I am writing an autobiography, and do some voluntary work for an arts organisation in Manchester. Also, I do some guest lecturing at the local Universities - Criminology, Psychology and Law, and am involved with Salford Universities Centre for Prison studies...

I ran a debating society whilst inside, which gave me the confidence and skill to speak in public and am trying to get into the after dinner speaking circuit.
