I have a passion for hiking and camping and I've been doing it since I was a little kid. I have such a wonderful childhood. I first started hiking with my father and a couple of friends. It was in Scotland, the Great Glen Way from Inverness to Fort Williams.
A friend once asked me what I would bring on a hiking trip if I were to have only 5 camping gear not including my trusty internal frame backpack and hiking boots and food.
It depends on the weather conditions so let's just assume we have 2 conditions; hot and cold.

3. Insect Repellent
4. Lightweight Raincoat
5. Camping Knife
