Lisa HW on HubPages
Residing in New England, I'm a freelance writer, who writes on assignment. In a previous life I worked in a corporate environment at a high-tech company. Newspaper experience includes straight news and weekly features. I've spent several years studying/researching the subjects of child development, education issues, learning problems, and giftedness in children - all for a long-term project. Most recently, I've been writing articles and other material on assignment. In my spare time I write for my own enjoyment, which often means writing about family/social issues in an attempt to share any insight I think I may have picked up on my journey from there to here.
Since I actually do have a life, I don't have a lot of time to keep up with my blogs as much as someone with a blog should; but I've finally decided to stop hoping nobody will find them online and just include them in my profile. For what they're worth (or not worth), some URL's are below.
The following thoughts about writing are something I often post with my work:
I often say that writing isn't always about just getting the words down, or out, or even read. It is about pulling from the universe just the right number and combination of words and allowing them to join hands to come to life.
It is my hope that I have, in some small way, managed to make at least a few words come to life - and if not, then I hope, at least, I've managed to capture a little of life in the words here.
Lisa's Collection http://lisahuntwarren.blogspot.com/
This was my original blog, which I started as a way of putting miscellaneous writing in one place. It evolved to be a kind of "hub" blog - a central, general, site around which other, more specific, themes are centered.
No Senior Coffee - A Forum for Youthful Boomers http://noseniorcoffee.blogspot.com/
As the name suggests, I started this blog with the idea that nobody should "go gently into any good nights". My aim is to put together something for mature people that is not focused on things like arthritis and retirement planning.
Drunk Driving - Lisa Comments http://lisahwarren.blogspot.com/
This abbreviated blog is actually the result of my wish to make people think a good, long, time before ever drinking and driving, or speeding. This one is personal and a matter of, "Hey, here's the Internet, here's me, why not try to send a message."
Lisa Light - Humor, Fluff, and General Foolishness http://lhwarren.blogspot.com
I'll be honest. Lisa Light is one I started because I so often write so much serious material, and because I started the drunk driving blog. I wanted to offer something light, fun, and inspiring. Besides, I wanted to send the message that being a woman isn't such a bad thing to be.
Adoption - Love, Lisa http://www.adoptionlwarren.blogspot.com
This is another one that's personal. These days it sometimes seems as if there is a war on adoption, particularly closed adoption. Having been blessed with the privilege of being mother not just to the two children I had, but to one I didn't; and having experienced the truly whole bond that can exist between adoptive mothers and children; I wanted to share.
Lisa's Children's Corner - On Parenting, Kids, and Education http://www.lisahw.blogspot.com/
This one is just my personal beliefs about children, parents, and education. I have some experience, and I like to think I have a little knowledge and quite a bit of common sense (in this area, anyway); so I write about children quite a bit.
Poverty Theory - Addressing poverty and money concerns http://www.povertytheory.blogspot.com
This one needs some more development, but it's my social conciousness showing. My aim is to offer information, resources, and helpful tips; as well as shed some light, on the causes/challenges of people living with financial struggle.
Dabblings in Verse http://lisasdabblings.blogspot.com/
As the name implies, this is a blog with poems and light verse. As it also implies, I only dabble. Some of the poems I kind of like. Some, I think are pretty much junk. Oh well, I only write them as a way of taking a break from other writing and seeing if I can come up with something I like.
Blogging on Blogging and Online Writing http://bloggingonbloggingandonlinewriting.blogspot.com/
This one is my attempt to show what I know - so far - about writing online. It's fairly new, and it's the one I think of as my "business side" blog. The trouble is that my "business side" has the least time to devote to a blog. ("Note to self: Do something about that time-management issue.")
For Moms of Premies http://www.momsofpremies.blogspot.com/
For Moms of Premies is actually online kind of prematurely, itself; but this one is another one that is personal. I just wanted to offer some reassurance, or at least "sisterhood" (and resources) to mothers who have premature babies.
Storm Clouds and Wind Chimes http://stormcloudsandwindchimes.blogspot.com/
Storm Clouds and Wind Chimes focuses on the "frazzle-ment" of day-to-day living, as well as some of the larger challenges that can bring clouds to an otherwise sunny life.
Lisa's Exploding Head http://lisasexplodinghead.blogspot.com/
This one I don't take too seriously. It's not very old, and I started it to have a place to "yell about" all the foolish things in life that make me feel like my head will explode. Everybody needs a place to write about the stuff that makes them crazy. I have some big plans for this one, but there's only so much time I can devote to the foolish (and yet infuriating) things in life. This, I guess, is my wish to express my "mean" side.
Memories, Magic, and Meltdowns http://memoriesmagicandmeltdowns.blogspot.com/
This is a new blog in progress, and right now it's more about meltdown than magic - but I'll come up with some magic eventually.
The Sins of Massachusetts - Lisa's Story http://sinsofmassachusetts.blogspot.com/
I've decided to finally tell a story that needs to be told. People so often have no idea about the ways government destroys lives and people, either through ignorance, apathy, bad laws, or any number of other things that make up a frighteningly overbearing and incompetent state agencies and courts. It's difficult to point out the incompetence and even criminal neglect without telling my story; and until now I have not been ready to tell it. I am now (sort of). This isn't one I can always leave online. Whether or not it is depends on my mood.
And then there's: Just Stuff - Lisa's Potpourri
http://www.lisahwarren.wordpress.com
Facebook - Lisa H. Warren
(I'm just figuring out what Facebook is supposed to be and how the whole networking thing works, so my page is probably weird compared to most - and yet I'm posting the link anyway.)
