My Hubs
The hubs here reflect my kaleidoscopic interests and experiences. From The Men in My Life (some of whom you'll recognize) to The Day I Became the Ad (a cautionary tale), you'll find reading that is engaging, practical, and possibly even life-saving.
Among the essays that could be put to use immediately are Before You Assume Someone's Drunk (helping the helpless), Adopt Pioneer Living (tips for a slow economy), 9 Free, Fun, Invaluable Tools and Websites, and More is Too Much (dispelling clutter from a packrat's viewpoint).
A psychological look at people like me (and you?) can be found in Are You a Misdiagnosed Introvert?
If making sure animals are cared for properly is important to you, there is A Billion Dead Each Year and Let Your Dog Take You for a Walk.
Health nuts and bread lovers will enjoy a recipe for Pebble-Topped Oatmeal Bread. And for those who don't have to worry about what they eat, you'll find much to love among the recipes in Bacon Bonanza. (In consideration of people like me who are now on a more restrictive diet, I've thrown in a vegetarian 'bacon' recipe for good measure.)
And if you're as dedicated an Anglophile as I, you'll enjoy Making Murder - British Style.
My Condensed Biography
That's me, Meg, in the photo, with my sister's cat, Lily. I'm an editor/writer with myriad interests and a zest for life - despite being what I like to call an uber-introvert. Other than my pets, who come at the top of the list, my favorite things include cookbooks, bread baking, reading nearly anything (90% nonfiction), watching brilliant British character actors, exploring British history (with an emphasis on London), the 1930s, the Old West and ... well, as you see, I truly am a jackdaw!
I was born in Portland, Oregon and yearn to return to what my Dad always called God's country - though, if it were possible, I'd live happily the rest of my life in my heart's home, London.
My parents were loving teachers, my paternal grandparents very successful dairy farmers, and my Grandpa and Grandma Brookman, respectively, the best architect and finest cook/homemaker in the world. (And, no, I'm not the least bit biased!)
The US Navy took me to Rhode Island (another wonderful place to live), where I became the first and only Wave in an all-male helicopter squadron. After those halcyon years I was posted to London. The Navy wasn't as much fun there but, without a doubt, my three years in England were magical. The military also helped me get a BA in History and an MA in English Composition at CSU Fresno.
I've figuratively driven down a one-way street the wrong way more than once but am looking forward to finding a place and work that feeds my soul and provides a few uber-introverts to talk to - when any of us feels like talking!
My editing website is www.brookmanediting.com (soon to be found on a larger site called BedsideBooks.com that is currently under construction) and I'm always glad to answer questions about English usage. Being an editor can be a bit harrowing because one is expected to be perfect. My Dad, however, gave his kids the skinny on that long ago: "All the perfect people are in the cemetery." (On the other hand, if you do see any boo-boos in my work, I'd be glad to know so I can fix 'em!)

I enjoyed your hub on "before you assume someone's drunk". Very valuable information to think about next time before just assuming.
