Shana (SHAYnah) is a survivor and thriver at heart, but wishes her body would catch up. Her name in Hebrew means either "beauty" or "sleeper" depending on who you ask, and her husband insists the nickname "Sleeping Beauty" is apropos. Despite a variety of health challenges, she has managed to: have two beautiful daughters (the miraculous fulfillment of a lifetime dream); raise and train three dogs (two of which wait at the "Rainbow Bridge"); edit newsletters for several non-profit organizations; travel most of the United States except Alaska and New England; learn to ride a horse and a motorcycle; SCUBA dive; hike trails in Georgia, California and Montana; and dream of someday traveling to Israel, hiking the Appalachian Trail, meeting Anne McCaffery, etc.
Shana was born in Tennessee, raised in Atlanta, spent two years at the University of Georgia, married a military pilot, worked for a violence crisis center and various volunteer efforts through officers spouses clubs and church. Her husband retired from the military and enjoys working for Geek Squad. The family is living in Warner Robins, Georgia and are members of Unity Baptist Church of Bonaire.
Shana's favorite activities since she was six years old have always been reading and writing. She has won recognition for her poetry, newsletters, and a short story. She aims to do the same with a novel someday, God willing. Her second love is music and dance, but health problems have curtailed all performances except singing at church.
