I am a person who prefers heart shaped rocks to jewelry. I don't like flash and find self-promotion a bit challenging. I like this new technique I have witnessed on other's profiles: letting my writing reveal who I am.
I've been told my best hubs come from when I connect with my heart... hubs like: Hey Dad, I have three great kids!; Raised on Music: A Norwegian Lutheran's Top Ten; and Elderly Mom Remains a Mystery.
My most recent hub, Rolling lefse for the holidays removes any second guessing regarding my country of origin!
My most popular hub is actually a service hub I wrote after my eldest had a bad experience with Craigslist. I detailed this scam in a vulnerable hub called Tutor Scam on Craigslist, which gave me many sleepless nights of bad dreams. But the comments show the value of stepping out on a limb and telling the truth for other's benefit. I suppose this is one of the bravest articles I have ever written. I am a bit of a wimple.
I have developed a few series over time. The most recent of these is my Where's David series. I wrote 59 hubs following my nephew David's cycle across America for prostate cancer. The first is appropriately titled, Nephew rides for cancer. (Clever, eh?) David rode over 6000 miles from Maine to San Diego and I am very proud of his persistence, despite injuries and loneliness.
This series ended abruptly when my father-in-law moved into home hospice and I began Planning the Funeral of a Loved One. I continue to learn about compassion and forgiveness as I confront this painful yet rewarding juxtaposition of life and impending death.
Another series of articles I add to on occasion began with a hub titled, Viable Female Candidates for 2012 and 2016. In this series I try to explore women in politics who have proven themselves worthy of a Presidential bid, no matter their party. I write these hubs to inform myself as much as share with others what I have learned, so that I can vote based on research as opposed to emotion, which clouds my ability to sort out the issues.
I have challenged myself to try new poetic genres, beginning with random lists like For Love of a Broken Underdog and moving into specific styles like Shi Poetry and Hummingbirds; Fu on the Villasur Court; Tracing Patterns in Airport Tile: chuci poetry; and a ghazal, Days unfold like sealed envelopes.
I have my Masters in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College and so there has to be a children's story in my collection! This story begins with Setting the Scene for The Best Potato Pickers in the County. This is a true story based on my mother's childhood and I explored the elements of storytelling with each new chapter in the series.
Mostly I write on random subject matter that interests me-- or that friends of mine request! You may enjoy reading: True Confessions: I crashed the Club's 2-33 Schweitzer Glider Plane; Amero Currency and Other Conspiracies; Introverts Anonymous; Top Ten Christian Theology Writers; Red Hair and Freckles; For Love of Licorice and Money is Love.
I write book reviews as Denver Young Adult Fiction Examiner, at http://www.examiner.com/x-11219-Denver-Young-Adult-Fiction-Examiner
And I help writers self-publish their stories, art and photos at http://www.storytellersrus.com.
I feel honored that you have read to the bottom of this lengthly list and hope there is something here that might inspire your own writing! Have a great day!

Your 'Hey Dad' hub certainly bought tears to my eyes. My hubs are much more pedestrian, but writers like you inspire me to try and bare my soul a bit more in my writing. Thanks again.
