My "awakening" occurred almost 7 years ago, the direct result of an unusual urge to learn about astral projection. For the first time ever, I began to work with my chakras and, quite honestly, it dramatically changed the direction of my life. Raised in a very strict religious home, the confines and restrictions of organized religion had never felt comfortable to me. For many years, I was in misery, spiritually, because I had been told - and mistakenly believed - that there was only one way to reach "heaven" and communicate with "God". It had also been reinforced time and again, growing up, that life was a cross we had to bear and we had absolutely no control over our destiny or purpose. It was our duty to give until it hurt and then give again, even at the expense of our own happiness.

I had picked up a guide to astral projection by two well-known occult writers, Denning and Phillips, and diligently followed the exercises they suggested, including stimulating my chakras. It exposed me to some incredible new ideas and concepts that I had not ever, in my wildest imagination, considered even remotely possible. I could sense the change beginning inside me and this proved just the beginning. I came across a book - at the time assumed by coincidence - entitled "Dead As I'll Ever Be" by a local writer, Pam Evans, and a true spiritual awakening resulted. For the first time in my life, I actually understood and accepted the fact that we all have the right to pursue a path of spirituality - of our own choosing - and it was incredibly empowering! It literally changed my life. Those first few hesitant prayers for help to the Creator were met with some unbelievable coincidences and provided the impetus to begin a new life. A new job suddenly appeared, an opportunity to move to a great area of the city presented itself and for the first time since my early childhood, I actually found myself experiencing true gratitude in my heart to the Creator. 

My path is pagan and it's been an incredible time of learning and growth over these last 7 years. Topics that were forbidden to even speak about growing up - magick, spirit guides, soul travel, energy healing, past lives, karma, remote viewing and psychic abilites to name a very few - all seemed to cross my path, along with people and resources that would suddenly appear at key times to assist me with learning and understanding each. My biggest shock was discovering that I actually had certain abilities and talents and that these were not "devil inspired" or "evil" but given freely by the Creator to assist me in realizing and fulfilling my purpose in this life. Most recently, I've been  heavily involved in developing my mediumship and psychic skills and work daily with my spirit guides. I cannot imagine my life without this incredible relationship with them, one that has slowly developed and blossomed over the years.

My secret for happiness? Take time each day to express gratitude for at least one thing - but especially for the trials, because these are essential to our growth.
