Carrien is a freelance writer, mother of three, and wife of one. (Because 2 would just be too much work.) She is a Canadian living a life of languid exile in San Diego, California were she writes, parents, and works hard to feed her family good food. She gathers ideas from the Mennonite traditions of her grandmother's cooking, a young life lived in the presence of her mother who was constantly catering, and a husband with a mean culinary streak and a preference for the the food sampled in his world travels. Inspired by peasant food around the world she brings a new perspective to the time honored traditions of bringing good, simple, nourishing food to the table.
