Excellent article on fibromyalgia. I have had fibromyalgia all my life, it was only discovered in the past 20 years along with other immune system disorders. It helps to get into a pain clinic. It can make an enormous difference in your life to get into an actual pain clinic. Most general practitioners and other specialists do what they can to avoid using pain medication of any kind, let alone for the long term. Pain clinic doctors understand the long term problems of extreme chronic pain and how debilitating it is. I've got maintenance medication now -- I was lucky, a drug of best choice that isn't addictive and is actually safer than acetaminophen worked well for me. How well you respond to different meds is personal and individual, I think your genes and blood chemistry have a lot to do with it.

I feel for you. It must be a lot harder to go from physically healthy life to sudden onset fibromyalgia. Please do continue to write more Hubs on this and other topics. I've found that writing is one of the things I can do even on a bad day, as long as I am careful and accept it'll take longer to finish and check what I'm doing.
