Hi everyone,

My name is Melissa.  I am a mother of twins and have the best husband ever.  Most importantly, we are Christians and desire to raise our children to know the Lord.

Both my husband and I accepted Christ at a young age. I didn't accept Christ just because my parents would have wanted me to.  God ministered to me even at a young age.  After learning to read, my favorite book became the Bible.  I always sought to know God more and I continue to do so.

God has seen us through so much over the last few years.  While my kids were still in the womb, He used them to minister to other people.  At week 21, we were told that Lola had low amniotic fluid, 1.6 to be exact.  It should have been between 9 and 24.

We were told that there was nothing we could do to change this and that the fluid would never increase.  Depending on what caused the decrease, we had a few scenerios.

If the fluid decreased, Lola would suffocate and Maddie would likely live.  If the fluid remained the same, Lola had a 20% chance of making it to delivery and only a 5% after delivery due to under developed lungs.  Maddie would still live.  If I ended up with an infection at any point during the pregnancy, I would have to abort both babies or I would die.

After hearing this news, I was devastated.  My husband and I went to share the news with our families and they lifted us up in prayer.  Soon prayers were going up and emails and phone calls were going in all directions.  People began praying all over the world and sending us words of encouragement.

That night after much prayer and talking with God, He showed me a little more in his plan.  He reminded me of the timing (my sister's baby was due 8 days sooner).  Sharing the pregnancy experience with her was always a dream of mine.  He reminded me that I was having twins.  Also a dream that I discussed with him as we waited many years to have kids and our time for a large family was running short.  Then He finally reminded me that He even through in the due date.  The due date corresponded with the date of my Dad's death to provide a little added healing for my family.  He showed me that my kids would be fine and that He was using us. He told me to Trust Him.

I hit the ground running the next morning.  Telling everyone that our kids would be fine.  We planned for the harvest so to speak by going ahead and naming our daughters.  That is not to say that giving full trust to God was easy, especially when things continued to deteriorate for an extra week or two.

God surrounded us with Christians that were unwilling to give up on our girls.  And within a month, Lola's fluid increased (with no medical explanation, of course).  The doctor's response, was "this was all answered prayer, fluid doesn't increase like that."  Both were born healthy and came home within 3 days of arrival.  The doctors said, had they not seen us during that month, they would have never suspected there was ever anything wrong.  Another neat thing, they were delivered by twins brothers.

I know that God had someone in mind when we were going through this.  I may never know who, but I like to think that He will continue using our testimony to reach people.  We are currently taking every opportunity to share what God has done for us.  We have spoken at churches upon request and have shared our testimony with as many that will listen or read about us.  I hope our little testimony blesses you as much as it blessed me.
