After seeing Daniel J. Travanti’s portrayal of Edward R. Murrow in a CBS Movie of the Week, I knew that my destiny was either in news, film, or as a chain smoker. So I began my professional career at Bob’s Save Discount Drugs in Erlanger, Kentucky, where I delivered whiskey to the infirmed. Striking a balance with my creative instincts, I concurrently founded the rock band, “Satan’s Choice,” a power duo of bass and drums that, despite ferocious competition from (among others) a Thin Lizzy tribute band, took fifth place at the Elder High School Battle of the Bands in Cincinnati. My first involvement with media took place at the University of Cincinnati, where I received a Scripps-Howard Journalism Scholarship for editing a newsletter with a circulation of one. My career as an undergraduate filmmaker culminated when a news package I produced appeared on closed-circuit television at a recreational center for the elderly. After achieving a BFA in Electronic Media, I interned at “As the World Turns” in New York, where I worked alongside prominent homosexuals. I advanced to receive an MA in Drama and Communications at the University of New Orleans. During that time, I courageously submitted myself to a host of indulgences, in an effort to better understand the common people for whom I hoped to someday provide a voice. My exploration peaked in my second year there, when I attended the “Quiet Riot” Reunion Tour at a country bar on the West Bank of New Orleans. Upon graduating, I moved to Los Angeles to gain employment as the leading director of my day. With that position unavailable, I was forced to sustain myself through a number of unsavory ventures, including managing television productions for companies like Disney. Dissatisfied with the prospect of actually having to work for a living, I vaulted into semi-retirement, occasionally lending my voice to prominent commercials, such as the Des Moines Lottery and Abilene Gas & Electric. Today I spend my days eating beef jerky and plotting my revenge.
