Paul is a professional biologist, living and working mostly on the Sunshine Coast, BC these days. He has a wide range of interests in all things nature, but predominantly those things "you can see" and writes mostly about his local wildlife, vegetation, fish, insects and other things he finds fascinating, including people and wildlife interactions.

His general passion is to explain scientific data, which we, biologists, are so good at collecting, to non-experts, including lower level decision makers, which we, biologists, are so poor at communicating effectively with.

His writing therefore is mostly in the classical nature-diary format, light-hearted, trying to tell a little bit of a story of an event or observation but always combining this with some essential, interesting or unusual information on the particular animal or plant he is writing about.

Dear Paul I liked your answer to my question about the 'rat race', although I am actually 45 years old, so I also remember my high school time without a computer as we know it now. I love science, although I have never been good at it, I regularly read 'Cosmos' - Australian Science Magazine and I spent hours and sometimes whole nights reading it as I am not able to get it on the first time, but science, philosophy, history ...just excites me and I am not able to get enough of it. I am so grateful to find someone like you on the hub. I promise to come back and read more and more of your exciting writings...I am teacher of Art and Eastern European Languages, recently I live in Australia and 'trying to be affluent in English and teach Art and Social Studies in a special school for students with behavioural and mental problems, very challenging but rewarding...If you want to read more about my background and work:

Your hubs are top-notch & I most definitely dig your style. I appreciate your gentle methods of converting biologist-type information in to something that is enjoyable to digest for the rest of us. :D Keep these great gems a'comin'!!
