Good Morning:
When I was a little boy, my mother told me that "there was nothing wrong with being poor, but everything wrong with being ignorant"; thus began my lifelong infatuation with the written word.
I am currently between vocations (a real job), "gainfully unemployed" but never without my avocation. As a free-lance writer (as a variety of livelihoods have permitted) since the early 70's, I tend to see my world from a slightly skewed perspective, in part, perhaps, as a result of a heart attack and recent bout with cancer but more likely, because, as I tell my wife and best friend of 40+ years, "I may grow older but I will never grow up!"
"Life is too short to dance with an ugly woman!" Treat each new day as a gift and you will be amazed at the largesse life has in store for you. Take the time to smell the roses ... and don't worry about an occasional thorn prick. Life is funny that way.
