61My name is Tom Spath. I was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin. After high school I went to college here, and there. Finally, after bouncing from school to school, and major to major, I chose broadcasting as my career field of choice.
After college I moved back home and worked for my dad's construction company, while continuing to look for work in the radio industry. It was August 2004 and I landed my first gig as a producer and board operator for local and network sports games. One day I made the right impression on a co-worker and she just happeded to need a co-host on her Top 40 radio show, of which she was the program director. After putting in my time and developing my skills, I decided to apply for some jobs in bigger markets. It wasn't long after, and I recieved an offer to host a rhythmic Top 40 night show in Macon, Georgia. I said yes to the offer and my family helped me load up and move across the country.
I met my wife in 2005. We dated for a while, and were married in 2008. I was laid off from my radio job a month after that. Network Marketing and Freelance Audio Production and Voice Overs helped us get by until I was hired back by the same company 8 months later. Now I hold a much more important role at the company, however the pay is still absolutely pathetic...but that's why my wife, Nichole and I are involved with Ignite.
I am also a skilled gardener. I love to grow fresh herbs and vegetables year round with organics and hydroponics. I'm gearing up to start my own plant nursery! I love it that a hobby can put food on the table and put cash in your pocket at the same time! I hope you like my hubs. Thanks for stopping by.
