Should Trick or Treating be banned ?

No. From what I read, one stupid excuse the town leaders used was that there had been break ins. What that has to do with trick or treating is beyond me. Maybe kids in their Batman and Tinkerbell outfits were out robbing homes.

There are two sides to this topic. Firstly, old people can become very scared at this time of year, because they may live on their own and be afraid of not answering the door. My mother moved to a sheltered home last year, and she is glad she does not have to endure another trick, or treat. On the other hand I love it, and give out all the goodies I can, but later on in the night it can be a problem, as that is when the teenagers come knocking, and I feel a little intimidated by this. They arrive after 9oclock at the door, and in big gangs. I think maybe a time limit on when it should end would be safer and not so frightening for people who live alone. We must remember them, as they are vunerable. It is easy to sit back when you have a house full of people and moan about the ones who complain, as they may have good reason to do this. Not every area is safe, and can become worse this time of year.

No I don't think it should be banned. The folks of that town need to reevaluate their elected leadership

I don't think it's a question of too much government as it's a question of too little involvement. It sounds like a group of residents complained and the county listened, and since the others didn't speak up soon enough the holiday got changed.

At least they are offering someplace that the kids can go to have fun, I've there have been a few places that ban it entirely for religious reasons. And if the residents are that upset, they should let each other know which houses will be giving out treats and the kids can go to those homes. Especially in a small town, that would be a great way to get around the ban. And I doubt the police are going to be arresting a lot of children for trick or treating!

I think it depends on the town. Why did they ban it? What is the township saying?

I had to find the story online, since I hadn't heard about it. I have to wonder what goes on in the minds of those fearful grownups. Probably bad Halloween memories.
