Friends who Judge You

Updated on November 24, 2014

A true friend is someone who accepts you as you are. They accept your faults and all. When a friend starts criticizing you that is when you know that something has to be said and done.

A friend who makes comments about the music you listen to, TV shows you watch, stores you shop at, the way you dress and basically anything you do is not a friend. A true friend will not try to change you or make you feel bad about who you are. They understand that everyone is different and will still be your friend.

Sometimes in life you may come across people who judge you. You may get close to them and ignore them judging you. You may still spend time with them and when they judge you, you will start to cry. You will overlook that because you want to have them in your life. Why would you want to have someone like that in your life?

When someone judges you they are very toxic and you are better off without them. All they will do is bring down your self-esteem and make you feel as if you have to change yourself in order for them to accept you.

First of all everything that you love to do has nothing to do with them. They should not care if you listen to Hilary Duff or watch Reality TV. You enjoying your life and doing what you love to do has nothing to do with them. It is not a big deal, even though they make it look like it. If you do not like something you should not have to force yourself to like something just because they do. You should also not have to force them to do something that they do not want to do just to be their friend.

Your differences should not make or break a relationship. You can have different hobbies and still be friends with each other. You should not have to explain why you like something. You should just have a passion and enjoy it. A true friend does not ask you why you like something, they know that you like something and they are happy that you are happy.

If you are in your twenties and do not party it is okay. It does not make you immature. There are some people who do not like to party and there is nothing wrong with it.

When people are in college they make a big deal about partying. You can not party and still have friends. There are still a million other things in the world to do with your friends. You could go see a movie with your friends or go to a concert. A true friend does not make you go against your values or make you feel bad about having certain beliefs. They know your beliefs and respect them.

It is nice to have things in common with friends but you do not need to have an identical twin. Everyone is different and that is what makes the world special. If everyone had the same personality and likes life itself would be pretty boring. It is important to expand your horizons and be friends with people who are different than you.

There is nothing wrong with being different than your friends. You are not weird if you listen to different type of music, dress different, have different hobbies or beliefs. All that matters is how well you get along and how true to each other you are. A true friend wants to see you happy.

Any friend who makes you feel like you have to change your whole life is not a friend. A friend who judges you is toxic and the more you are around them the more miserable your life will be. Everyone has flaws and quirky ways and the friend who loves you no matter what, that is a true friend.

If you have someone like that in your life get rid of them. Spend less time with them and search for new friends. Life is too short so focus on the ones who bring you joy and not make you want to cry all the time.
