How to Meet Firemen

Updated on June 30, 2009

I used to have a real thing for firemen. I’ve kind of outgrown that phase, but I know loads of women who want to meet a fireman just as much as I did. This article is a list of the ways I went about meeting those I dated. I can’t promise that you’ll meet the fireman of your dreams this way, particularly since women tend to scoop them up for marriage pretty damned quickly, but these are the best ways I know of to meet them as inconspicuously as possible.

Hang out at a fireman’s pub

Depending on what city you live in, many neighborhood firehouses will have a local pub they meet up at on certain days. In some cities there are bars which seem to only cater to firemen from all over town, as the bars are always packed with them. Grab a girlfriend, find your local fireman’s bar, get dressed up and go get you a fireman. Or, if you’d really like to be adventuress, try visiting a fireman’s bar in another city altogether.

Drop by a firehouse and ask for advice

Get dolled up (but not too dolled up, as that would be odd), drop by the local firehouse and ask for advice on something. Tell them you do volunteer work and you’re looking for tips on teaching fire-safety. Ask if you can get one of them to swing by and give a quick lesson. (Obviously, you’re telling a big fat lie here, but they don’t need to know that! You can always cancel at the last minute and suggest a consolation drink instead.)

Online dating

Sites like Match.com will allow you search profiles for tags, and most firemen will mention their profession in their profile (cos they know women drool over it). Simply search the appropriate keywords and see who you come up with. I’ve found loads of firemen at Match.com and other sites; I’m sure you will to.

Attend a fireman's fundraiser

Some firehouses hold fundraisers quite often and if you drop by the firehouse and find out when they are (or check their website), you can make a point of attending the next one. Meet a hot guy and show you care about your community all in one day -- well done!

Go to a fireman's convention

You can usually find these by searching the firemen’s association website for future events. Some of them may be closed to the public but if they are open you can see all kinds of things ranging from demonstrations to a firestruck show. Grab your nephew and take him along – he can drool over the big trucks and you can drool over the big men.
