Great Ideas for Dating

Updated on August 5, 2014

Making your first date memorable

Getting to know someone, especially when you're interested with that person often involves dating. It is important to plan ahead before going on a date. Well, this advice applies to guys who are involved since it's the gentleman who does the courtesy of setting up a date. So I've gathered some ideas, thanks to Mack Tactics by Rob Wiser and Chris Curtis. We'll discuss some ideas in choosing a place for dating and what to consider and avoid. This also applies to first dates since it's supposed to be special and memorable.

It is also good to take note of the places to be avoided first

Places to be Avoided

What should you not consider?

So let's first start with the places you shouldn't be at especially if it's your first date or you just want to make everyting special. So don't go to:

1. Movies The most common place guys choose on first dates in the movies. It's not that expensive (except for the overpriced drinks and popcorn). But to consider the environment, the two of you are sitting in the dark, not talking, and your mind is focused on what you're watching for the next two hours. You're not going to get to know each other with this type of environment and there's nothing much memorable in a movie house.

2. Nightclubs A danger zone especially for first dates. You're in a place where people come to either make friends or flirt around. You're likely to get distracted by other people there. The loud music also makes it difficult to make some conversations. Most of the drinks are expensive and you're likely to find a difficult place to sit. Also, some guys would like to make a move on your date the moment you leave her for a few minutes. Better opt out this one from your plans.

3. Events involving Friends or Family

It usually gives the feeling of 'Out of place' to her. You're there introducing her to people and making her memorize their names. Your family and friends represent you and you can't control whatever behavior they make.

Well I've experienced No. 3 a lot of times when we are having some social gatherings with my friends and one of us would bring his or her date. Usually it just makes them out of place. But it somehow make it that our guest would be welcome. But you surely don't want your date to feel uncomfortable even though you want to introduce her to your friends. Better do it when you're no longer in the first date.

You can date in those places I which can turn out to be good in some cases but consider the risks of not having a good time.

Dinner Dates

Some quality time together

Either you're going out for coffee or dinner just make sure the place is a clean environment. When you're in the choice of great food between clean environment, go for clean environment.

Before you date on the restaurant, it's better if you have to visit that place if you haven't been there before. And do some research about the place also like what special events took place there. You might need this to spark some conversations and also make her feel special.

Try to avoid fast food chain restaurants, but don't spend too much either. There are a lot of fine dining restaurants that don't require a lot of spending. Furthermore, spending too much might make her think that you're expecting something in return at the end of the night. This could also make you feel cheated after spending a lot on your first date. So don't put a lot on pressure to her and yourself.

Other Date Ideas

Time to be creative

Dates don't need to be at night. You can also enjoy some daytime activities together.

Try consider planning daytime dates around her interests. If she's into sports, you can take her to a local campus athletic event, the atmosphere is filled with youthful energy.

Parks, or historical places are also good places to spend first dates. You can take her on a walk and enjoy the surroundings. If you're the nervous type, walking can help remove nervousness as you walk around with her.

Consider taking her to places that are interesting and off the beaten path while avoiding malls, movie theaters, fast food restaurants, and all of the 'usual' locations

Remember: Be Creative
