Can You Meet Single Men At The Gym?

I have been a gym member for most of my adult life and didn’t get married for the first time until after I turned 35. So, I had plenty of experience trying to meet men over the years and would often scope out the “candidates” when I worked out. Occasionally, I would meet a nice, single, successful guy with a great personality. More often, the “good men” at the gym were the married ones.

Today, my husband and I went to the gym together and while we exercised side by side on our ellipticals I casually scoped out my surroundings. It was clear.. The gym environment seems to attract a very unique cast of characters in the single men category.

See if you can recognize any of these from your gym:

Tai Chi Man… He is the one practicing Tai Chi or karate moves alone, looking in the mirror, admiring his moves. The gym can be bustling with activity, rock music blaring, but he is in his own little world. Enjoying his own company.

Throw Back Man…He is still living in the 70s or 80s.. Bowl cut OR Bruce Jenner wings OR the Mullet. For effect, add in the Free Bird or Cheap trick Tee shirt. Perhaps he still has the shiny striped gym shorts from high school.

Hair Piece Man.. There is always at least one man around 50 years old, who has some type of hair piece. You notice him right away, He should have grey hair, but doesn’t, He has very fluffy full hair for a main of his age. When you get close, you can see it,,, the line, That would be the line between his real hair and fake hair.

I Look Good! Man. This is the guy who thinks he is god’s gift to women, and in some cases, men too. He walks the floor with authority and likes to catch a quick glance of his bicep or tricep in the mirror. He likes to ogle the hot women as he works out.

Wrestler Man.. He wears a one piece wrestling leotard every time he works out. When he’s there, he does a regular routine, but his dress says otherwise, Why.. tell me why?

Jeans and Work Boots Man...Usually in his 30s work boots man comes in right from the construction site to the free weight area. Seems so uncomfortable!

Intense Man.. Has bulging muscles, tattoos, an ipod and sweat, He works out with an intensity that makes others cower. He may look good but he’s kind of scary.

By now I may have offended some very nice men reading this article. Don’t get me wrong,… it’s also hard to meet women at the gym. I see them too: Bubbly girl, anorexic girl, fake boobs girl, looks like a guy girl. And, lots of married women. There may be some very nice, single women there- and they’re likely hard to find.
