A Biblical way to Succeed Online with your Art

Updated on June 18, 2012

Art has been a major part of my life and I have been drawing and painting for over 20 years with 15 of those years painting seriously. Since God created man in his image and likeness according to Genesis, part of mans DNA is creativity. God is a creator and he created the heavens and the earth (Gen.1:1). For me being able to try to reproduce the beauty of this vast earth on canvas is a privilege and honor with the reward being that someone is willing to pay for something I have created.

A biblical way of succeeding online with art is not the only way, but simply a way that I have found is working for me. I am by no means an online expert, but along with SEO and other marketing strategies I am learning to apply God's biblical strategy to maximize success. Many may not believe that God is concerned about business, but Jesus called many of his Disciples while they were making a living as fisherman, tax collectors and other areas. Luke chapter 5 is the story of Peter launching out into the deep at the command of Jesus after a poor night in his fishing business. Jesus supernaturally helps Peter to catch two boat loads of fish. He can do the same thing for businesses today.

I have seen an increase in my online art business as I have determined to put Luke 6:38 into action with it. This scripture declares give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom, for with the same measure you mete withal it shall be measured unto you again. I make a habit of giving over and above what my customer orders because in doing this I show my appreciation for their willingness to order from me and Luke 6:38 is in action because I am giving. It is men who will give into my bosom and as they give, I continue to give creating a cycle of giving and receiving.

An important note is I'm not giving just to get because God will not bless selfishness, but real giving must come from the heart because God loves a cheerful giver. I love the response of a surprised customer who has received more than they thought they would. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive and the financial benefit is the added dessert. Currently I have gone from nothing to averaging 3 or more art sales per week using this biblical principle. My Ebay sales often end with me giving 50% of monies back to charity and ministry.
