Famous Bible Verses for Spiritual Direction
Do you have a famous bible verse that has helped you go through the valleys and in the right spiritual direction?
What did you learn from the mountain and valley experiences that you have gone through in your Christian life?
The Mountain Top Experience
My favorite famous bible verse about spiritual growth is from the book of Psalms chapter 23 verse 1-6 from the King James Version Bible.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. 2. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, 3. He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6. Surely, goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. ~Famous Bible Verses for Spiritual Direction from the King James Version Bible.
As I read this famous bible verse, I think of the many valleys I have personally been through, and the mountain top experiences I have had in my spiritual growth. I also think about what I have learned through these personal experiences, and how the holy spirit has been my guide through my Christian growth along the way. I often think about why we have to go through the valleys in life, and why God puts us through the bad times.
Lesson Learned-Going Through the Valleys is When We Start to Grow
Our pastor taught on this famous bible verse about going through valleys in our life.
She said, "When we are on the mountain top, and everything is going well in our lives we don't grow in our spiritual life. Nothing grows on top of the mountain. But when we are down in the valley and everything is green around us this we grow more in our spiritual lives."
It is not when you are on the top of the mountain and everything is going well in your life that you grow spiritually, but it is when you are going through the valleys that you grow.
