Never swear, by heaven or by earth because it's a detriment to us.
Never swear, by heaven or by earth because it's a detriment to us.

"Faye's daily of words of encouragement" # 25 Todays word is:Swear"

Definition of the word Swear: To make a solemn affirmation; to make a vow; to declare emphatically.

James chapter 5 - 12 : But above things, my brethren swear not, neither by heaven, neither by earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay be nay; lest thou fall into condemnation.

Psalms chapter 15 - 4 : In whose eyes a vile person is condemed; but he honoured them that fear the Lord, he that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

Matthews % chapter 34- 35 : But I say unto you , swear not at all; neither by heaven for it's God throne, nor by earth, for it is God's footstool, neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great king.

I realize there are a lot of people that swear by different things in life, but apparently; don't know the truth behind swearing. God warns us about swearing,it just not a thing to do. I think swearing is a detriment to us.

Let's reconsider our take on swearing , because we don't want to do anything that's going to offend or disrepect our father in heaven. If you're a swearer ,my advice for you ; is to pray and ask God to help you to stop.

Years ago I used to use the common phrase, "I swear to God" in a casual way--and then came to the conclusion you did- great advice!! Thank you for the reminder!

It's funny how we do tend to take that word for granted. Like you said, people swear by or on anything, not realizing the full scope or deeper meaning behind such actions.
