The Garden Commission
Back To Genesis
“And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” Genesis 3:11
Certainly, we are living in a time of astounding information that is prevalent wherever we go, ready for our consumption.
The power of the spoken word, in itself, is packed with the ability to change a person’s course of direction if he or she meets the condition of being joined to the Word or the higher thoughts that comes out of the mind and mouth of God. In fact, whether a word heard, is positive or negative; if we adhere to the message of what is spoken to us in the form of thought, we will find ourselves advancing up the mountain or down in the valley.
Wherever you may find yourself on the journey of your life at this moment, God has a Word for your situation. The basis of this book is to reveal to you the untapped resources, divinely placed within yourself; if left undiscovered, through religious practices and ceremony that serve to overshadow the treasures contained within your vessel will leave you dead, and not knowing your worth in God’s plan.
Simply stated, many of us on this planet lose our way, and our identity, because we settle for religious solutions and ceremony to address a “temple of God” identity crisis. Let me state at the outset, that this book will quote from the Bible, but it is not intended to promote religious formality that is merely a fig leaf to mask the true you viewed by God, your Creator.
Genesis 3:7 – And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
When looking into the covenant called, the Word of God, we must turn our attention back to Genesis. This book of the Bible is by far the most misunderstood, and yet, it is one of the most important. Genesis is the book of origin. All of us have one, but most of us are clueless regarding it. Man was created on the sixth day, and The Book of Revelation reveals to us that six is the number of man (see Revelation 13:18); and with this understanding, creation man is more than flesh, blood and bones, he is an idea that proceeded out of the mind and mouth of God. “Let us(Father, Son and Holy Spirit) make man (mankind) in our image, after our likeness: and let them (mankind) have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” (Gen.1:26 KJV), is a word that proceeded out of the mouth of God and it brought into existence a fearfully and wonderfully made manifested idea, called Man!
The other important point about any idea that flows out of God is it must be understood that God’s ideas are higher thoughts than those which comes out of HIS creation.
Isaiah 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 55:9: For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Man, as an idea, better yet, you, as an idea, represent a higher way and higher thought of God. You are not some after thought with God (see Romans 8:29), you are a masterpiece that came from the eternal mind of The Master-Thinker, and the result of HIS thinking will not return unto HIM empty.
The Biblical Word of God is some of God’s thoughts written down on paper, giving us an opportunity to piece together what is on HIS mind. I know right here some religious person is struggling because we seem to think all God had to say is contained in the sixty-six books of the Bible. We would be in great trouble if that is all God had to say and do pertaining to the existence of man. The highest manifestation of thought is to hear the voice of thought speak, arresting the attention of ourselves into the end result of visible expression. In other words, God said, “Let there be Light” and light became.”
The only reason God could say, “Let there be Light,” was related to light being a high thought that was released from Himself as The Word.
The reason I allude to this idea of the higher way and higher thought of God, is to cause you to see yourself in a whole different light (no pun intended); because most of us view God as being against us; but I want to challenge you to re-think to see that God is not against HIS idea, but because anything, or anyone that God thought into existence, has a beginning and an end, you therefore possess the guarantee that everything that God creates, will be finished. The iniquity and transgressions are the things that distract men from becoming the destiny that God has scripted for them from the beginning.
What we fail to learn from what has been known as, “The Creation Story,” is that God is not merely showing us where things come from, HE is revealing to you and I, who we are.
Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, etc; contain fragments of the mysterious mind of God, His detailed plan for mankind, the family of God, and more importantly, HIS plan for you. Since, before the beginning, you were apart of God’s thought and now in visible form; the thoughts that have been thought about you are being manifested through visible expression to glorify God.
Now, turning our attention, to Genesis to dissect the allegorical lessons contained in its pictorial language we immediately see that God placed Adam (male and female) in an external condition with the five-fold assignment, I define as, “The Garden Commission” (see Gen.2:8-15):
The Garden Commission
1. Be Fruitful - bringing forth
2. Multiply - having authority
3. Replenish the earth - to be full
4. Subdue the earth - to overcome
5. Have dominion - to rule
Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Genesis 1:28: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
In order for mankind (male and female) to fulfill this divinely appointed assignment or “The Garden Commission” he has to be sure about one thing: Who he is. Adam was created after the image and likeness of God; and he was placed in the Garden for a specific purpose, just like we are placed in a church, a business, a neighborhood, a ministry calling, etc., for a specific purpose and that purpose is tied to who we are and more importantly, what we listen to, (see John 10:5); which tells us, “And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.”
We are all familiar with the account of how the serpent began to speak to the woman that was taken out of man, and how she began to drift off into her own vision of self-fulfilled desire; which attributed to moving the man and the woman out from the very presence of God or the illusion of being out of the presence. They became conscious of themselves and lost their consciousness of God; by simply listening to the voice that slithered on the ground of their understanding.
Mankind is still faced with this very responsibility of being the vehicle by which God will show Him Self strong to release his five-fold responsibility in the earth realm; therefore it is important that men become seekers of God more so than lovers of pleasure. It is interesting, to say the least, that man will commit himself to the study of all sorts of things but when it comes to the Word of God, we only rely on allowing the preacher to break down the message of the Bible to us week after week, and yet, fail to develop an independent self assertive effort to search the scriptures for ourselves. The Bible is not a preacher’s only manuscript it is a book written for man about man and to man; and The Bible reveals the original posture of man in the earth.
The Five-fold Responsibility
To fully comprehend the question that God puts to Adam, “Who told you that you were naked?” It is of the utmost importance to have a clear understanding of this five-fold responsibility or Garden Commission that is still prevalent in our lives today.
We all make the inquiry, “Why am I here?” However, many of us die without discovering the answer to this timeless question. I believe that Jesus Christ came to Earth to not only restore man in right relationship and fellowship with God, but I believe HE came to restore man’s relationship with himself. This relationship is related to his responsibility on the Earth; and as many religious practices harp on getting us right for heaven, the truth is this; God really wants man to get right for his earthly assignment.
Whatever we are destined to be; it will ultimately be tied to the original commission of Adam and the Woman, which predates the fall of man.
You are an idea that springs forth from the eternal mind of God, the Creator, and housed within the confines of your spiritual anatomy is this ability to create and establish the will of God in the Earth realm.
To fully see this truth, I want to guide you through the principles of fruitfulness, multiplication, replenishment, subduing, and having dominion.
It is here that you will gain insight into your divine position in the plan of God. You will gain greater understanding about your worth and value as a spirit housed in a body; and you will find that you are filled with greatness.

The Three Masters: The Taskmaster
Understand something here, Christ defines for us what categorizes His position as being THE SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP, and it has to do with where you and I enter (see John 10:2). The Lord is THE SHEPHERD to those who have entered the right DOOR of the church; not the right church.
If you are building the wrong city; or cities for Pharaoh (a.k.a. Satan) you are no doubt outside of the door, awaiting the deliverer: THE CHRIST. We are called to be laborers with Christ, yet many of us find our hands abiding in the wrong labor; which means we are working for something or someone, so very far from working WITH THE LORD. The Bible teaches us to labor to enter into His rest.
