God's Indescribable Gift
God’s Indescribable Gift
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”
2 Corinthians 9:15
This coming Christmas, what is that one specific gift that will make your heart swell with joy ?
Is it an expensive gift you long so much ? An ipod ? A laptop ? An expensive cellphone ? There are many gifts in this world that will surely give pleasure to you but not all will give lasting joy and true happiness. Many people will receive great gifts this Christmas that will make their Christmas special, but will those gifts really give them lasting joy ? They may experience pleasure as they receive those gifts but those gifts are not guaranteed to provide them true happiness. Having pleasure and having happiness are two different things. Pleasure is just temporal. It fades away with the passing of time while happiness endures through the passing of time. You can have much pleasure in life but you are not truly happy. While a certain person can truly be happy in the absence of pleasure. Most of the material things this world offer provide only pleasure not lasting happiness and true joy.
The world offer so much gifts this Christmas but only God provide such indescribable gift. God offers an indescribable gift by giving JesusChrist. Why it is such an indescribable gift ? It is such an indescribable gift because mere words cannot explain such gift. There are no perfect words sufficient to describe such gift. This is the best gift that a person can receive this Christmas. I still recall Christmas of 1991 when I received such indescribable gift. During that particular Christmas I have no lovelife for I have no husband or boyfriend, I have no such great career and I have no much money. But God’s indescribable gif t in Christ made me truly happy during that particular Christmas. In fact it remained my most unforgettable and happiest Christmas inspite of the absence of lovelife and money. God’s indescribable gift has brought lasting joy and true happiness to me. Money and material things are not the ones that really matter during Christmas, it is indeed the presence of Christ in one’s life. A family may have an extravagant Christmas, lavished with expensive gifts and mouth-watering delicacies, but apart from Christ such Christmas is celebrated in vain. A family may just have a simple Christmas with simple food and simple gifts but with the presence of Christ their Christmas is truly great.
One may not receive great gifts this Christmas, but if he will receive God’s indescribable gift this Christmas, he will have the best Christmas ever. God’s indescribable gift brings us so much blessings in life. Not only lasting joy and true happiness but a perfect peace and a blessed hope. With God’s indescribable gift, we receive assurance of God’s forgiveness and love. We receive God’s gift of eternal life, deliverance and freedom from the power of sin, heavenly inheritance, belongingness to God’s eternal Kingdom, comfort for our troubles and trials, provision from heaven, true security and protection, salvation from eternal doom in hell, wisdom and guidance for life, and many more. With God’s indescribable gift, what more can we ask for ? Having received God’s indescribable gift, we have been blessed beyond any measure. Apart from receiving God’s indescribable gift, a person has not yet been truly blessed.
To all my followers at Hubpages, A blessed Christmas to you all ! May you have a Christ-centered Christmas 2012.
In God’s mercy,
