JESUS : POWER of All the Powers

JESUS : POWER of All The Powers

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him, all things were created , things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities ; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together..”

Colossians 1:15-17

The passage above is one of the strongest reference on the Christian doctrine, the Deity of Christ. This doctrine the Deity of Christ is one of the central doctrine of Christianity. This is a major Christian doctrine on which lies the test whether a certain denomination or sect is a Christian or not a Christian. Every church which bears the Name of Christ must first and foremost believe that Jesus Christ is God. Without bearing this declaration that Jesus is God, a church can never be considered a true Christian church.

Christ is the image of the invisible God. When Christ became a man, we now have a more concrete view of God. God’s character is fully reflected in Christ’s character. We have known that God is a very loving Father, loving the sinner, but He is a holy God hating our sins. We have a clearer understanding of the mercy of God , when we read about Christ’s compassion and mercy to the lost sinners of the world. We have known that we have a forgiving God in Heaven because we read about how Christ forgive sin in the gospels. We have known that God is a great provider when we read that Jesus provides food for the multitudes. We have known that God is a mighty healer when we read about Jesus healing many sick men and women in the gospel. No other men that lived on earth bears the exact image of God other than Christ. No other person who existed in the world bears the power of God other than Jesus of Nazareth.

For by him, all things were created . In other words, through him all things were made. Nothing that exist here on earth will exist without Christ. Christ is the Creator. He is Co-Creator of the Father. He created everything that existed in the world and the entire universe. He created the universe and everything on it. He created the earth and everything on it. He created all the angels including Satan and all his demons. What is the significance of this ? Jesus who is in us is much much greater than Satan, the god of this world. With Christ we can be victorious. Only through JesusChrist, we can achieve power and victory in living our Christian life.

Everything were created by Jesus, and they were created for him. My life is created by Jesus, so I now should live to give glory to him. Everything, everyone here on earth is created by Jesus but not everyone here on earth lives for the glory of Jesus.. Many of the people of the world lives apart from the will of God. They live to satisfy their selfish desires and cravings, they live for themselves alone.

It is written in 2 Corinthians 5:15 ;

“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. “

As Christians redeemed by the Lord from the power of darkness, we should live for Christ. We should live to fulfill Christ’s purposes for our lives. But most of the people live careless lives away from the Lord.. They live with careless thoughts, careless words and deeds. They are living their lives without understanding of the truth. They are unaware of how much they have offended God with their careless thoughts, words and deeds. But as Christians, we are children of the truth , we will live to bring glory to God.

“Christ is before all things and in him, all things hold together.”

Christ is the sustainer of everything. He is the one who sustains the whole universe. That’s why the planets are stuck on their place. There is an order in the entire universe. That’s why the earth is not falling out of its axis.. Christ is sovereign over the entire universe. He is sovereign in the whole earth. He is sovereign in the life of each of his precious children. Despite the many trials and distresses afflicting us, we should keep in our mind, in Christ all things hold together.

Last week we just experienced another powerful typhoon named typhoon Canson. It was indeed a mighty storm that broke down the electicity of the entire Metro Manila and Southern and Central Luzon. I woke up at 1: 00 AM on the night of the typhoon. The power is out. I could hear mighty winds traversing the city. I was a bit afraid that I could not sleep further. I called on the mighty Name of the Lord during those wee hours of the night. I waited till down, The powerful storm traversed the city of Manila for about five hours. But praise the awesome Lord Jesus, nothing critical happened in the city of Manila after the powerful storm passed by.Truly we have experienced once again, that in Christ everything holds together.

This is just one of the distresses I experienced in my life. I have experienced several distresses before, even more fearsome such as fires and earthquakes. But in all those distresses, I experienced again and again that Jesus is in control of everything. Sometimes God will allow us to experience distresses in life, so that we can experience the awesomeness of Christ’s sustaining power.

Cristina, I love this passage of Scripture from Colossians! Thank you for expounding on the Sovereignty and Awesomeness of God! It is reassuring to know that even in the midst of quite distressing natural disasters that God has everything under His control! We must always seek Him for guidance! "How Great Thou Art"

“As Christians redeemed by the Lord from the power of darkness, we should live for Christ. But as Christians, we are children of the truth , we will live to bring glory to God.” Powerful TRUE statement! Thank God for HIS Holy Spirit!

“Sometimes God will allow us to experience distresses in life, so that we can experience the awesomeness of Christ’s sustaining power. Sometimes we just have to “Wait on the Lord!” Thank you for sharing these beautifully expressed encouraging insightful words of wisdom. In HIS Love, Peace, & Blessings!

Great hub! Great subject matter. 2 Corinthians 5:15 is also one of my very favorite verses. It IS about the Lordship of Christ. The cliche' is "If He's not Lord of all...He"s not Lord at all" While it's is age old it"s truth remains strong. Thanks for the powerful reminder.

Ate cristina; To have Our Father, Christ, and The Holy Spirit dwelling within us every second of every day, loving us, providing for us, comforting us, teaching us, who could ask for a better life than this. Our every Need is met, and all we are asked to do is pray and believe in Jesus. Now how simple is that?
