Jesus Forgives and Heals
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”Mark 2:1-5
I love this passage of scripture. When Jesus saw their faith he healed the man. When he saw that they had faith he healed the man. They didn't say, "Oh, you know what? It is too full. We will come back later or tomorrow". No, they actually made a hole in the roof! Can you imagine what the people their might of being saying or thinking? "What are they doing?" "They're wrecking the roof," "They shouldn't do that!" How can you show Jesus that you have faith? One way is just to simply trust him. Sometimes this involves shaking things up a bit.
When we don't have enough faith we should ask others to pray for us. Or if we see someone who doesn't have any faith but they need healing we must pray for them and ask others. Maybe feeling forgiven actually heals our bodies!, and maybe, just maybe not allowing guilt to eat up every single healthy cell in our bodies or poison every living cell allows healing in our bodies.
I heard on one Christian show that maybe the paralytic didn't even have any faith whatsoever. We don't know because it doesn't say. Or, I like to think that perhaps he had enough faith to ask the other believers to people to bring him.
Spiritual Assignment:
- Add some new people to your prayer list.
- Ask people to pray for you.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for those who carry huge loads of guilt that maybe it is paralyzing the only faith that they have left. I pray that you they would come to you with their burdens and worries and that will heal them. I pray for healing for those believers that are physically ill. I pray we as believers will step up and pray for the weak. In your precious name we ask these things, Amen.
