The biblical Law of Agreement (Part 1)
The law of agreement was instituted in the very beginning in the book of Genesis when Adam came into agreement with God. Coming into agreement with God also means to come into agreement with his word. God has no problem coming into agreement with us, but in so doing it limits his ability to bring us into our purpose and destiny that he has ordained for us. So he must expand our thinking to begin to think like he thinks because the Bible says in Isaiah 55 God's ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts than our thoughts. God constantly must work on renewing our minds through his word until we have the mind of Christ (Philippians 4). Ephesians 3:20 also says now onto him that is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think according to the power that works in us.
This Scripture also shows God's ability to elevate our thinking. There are many things that a person may have experienced in life that limits their thinking and causes them to feel less than they really are. Negative self talk, negative talk from others, fear, fear of failure to name a few; but all of these hindrances create negative mindsets that must be taken down and replaced by the word of God. The Bible says casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God because how we imagine or think about ourselves is what we will become. The Bible says as a man thinks in his heart so is he, in other words our life will go in the direction of our thoughts. Taking on a new mindset by renewing our minds in the word of God enables a person to begin to live life outside of the box.
A person can become more than they ever thought they could be, and do more than they ever thought they could do simply by coming into agreement with God's word. For instance the Bible says through the words of the apostle Paul I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me and if a person would only agree with this Scripture for their life they would become a different person altogether. Jesus prayed all night and then chose 12 disciples and charged them to follow him and as they came into agreement with him they obeyed him because true agreement with God's Son (word) is to obey what he says.
Think about it if a person does not agree with something they will not engage or obey it, but will resist and go the opposite way. Jesus chose fisherman, tax collectors and ordinary men who began to walk in agreement with him for three years and they literally turned the world upside down. This is what God's word will do in our lives as we come into agreement with it and obey it because it will literally change our world.
