Love is.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. 1 John 3:18 New Living Translation

Actions not words.

Love is not emotions, it is actions.

You cannot command your emotions can you?

Than how can you command love?

When someone does you wrong and you forgive them, that is actions. That is love. When you are at the check out and the person doesn’t have enough money to pay and you pay, that is love. When you give up your seat on the bus that is love. When someone insults you and you give back a compliment that is love. When you refuse to be judgmental that is love. When you hold the door for someone that is love. Try saying good morning with a smile to everyone you meet for a week, so how much you become more loving. When you welcome a new neighbour, classmate or coworker that is love. When you see someone at school or work going through a hard time and you reach out to them that is love.

Can you think of any to add to this list?

Love is not like the music, TV and film industry portray it as a physical attraction. That is lust and will only lead to pain and misery.

Why don’t you ask God you show you how to commit one act of love today and ask Him every day?
