Love your neighbor as yourself.

Mathew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'

This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second one is: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Jesus Christ himself has expressed the essence of Christianity by saying that: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. Many times we find ourselves not fulfilling this requirement of God. God is love. God loved us so much that he gave his one and only Son for our redemption. That is the greatest love.

Let us examine what is that keeps us away from God. Is it money? Is it love of flesh? Is it fame? There are three things which can keep us away from God. They are Girl, Gold, and Glory. Our ego is another thing which can prevent us from doing the will of God.

If you have a true desire to love God, then, following God is Very easy. When God created, He placed his spirit within us. The holy spirit guides us and leads us to a holy life. Whenever we turn from the way of God and starts doing the thing which is against the will of God from within us we will hear a voice or thought that prevent us from doing that. That is the inner voice. Listening to that inner voice and obeying will give us satisfaction and inner peace. If we ignore that inner voice, very soon it will stop speaking to us. Obey the spirit.

There are happiness and joy in obeying the spirit of God. We will be blameless and pure as we continue our earthly life. Who does not wants to live a life that is full of joy and happiness? Everyone wants to lead a good life. Pure and Holy. But for a little gain or for a little profit, we ignore that great happiness and blessings awaits us. If you make a few dollars by the illegal way, for a moment, you will be happy. But the guilt feeling will continue forever and make you sad. The other thing which we should understand is that if we make money illegally, you will lose many times more than that amount very soon. For example, if you gain $10 through an unlawful way, you will lose $ 50 by visiting a doctor and buying medicine. When you made that $10, you were happy that you made $10. But without your knowledge, you are losing many times more than what you have earned. The sickness, pain and the trouble of visiting the doctor are the bonus for that illegal earning. Guilt feeling will be overtaking your happiness.

Remember that God is a Holy God. You may not believe in a particular God. You may be believing that there is a force which is controlling this universe. Whatever you call it, there is a Power that controls this universe. The qualities of that power is love joy and peace. God delights in truth and justice. He will punish you when you divert from his law. If you suffer unlawful loss, don't worry, that force is there to compensate that loss. you don't have to worry about it. God loves those who do good and punishes those who do evil. If you have any doubt about this, please observe your own life and deeds. Very soon you will find that the Just and True God is alive in your life too. If you ignore God and continue in your sinful life, your reward is continuing pain, problems, uncertainty, unhappiness and so on.

That is why the wise King Solomon said that: "the fear of God is the beginning of the wisdom." Fear God and do good. You will be happy in all walks of your life. When God blesses you, you will forget the unlawful suffering you had in your life. Be patient and see the good works of God in your life.

That is why the first and foremost commandment is that "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" If you love your Lord, you will obey his commandments. You will lead a righteous life. You will do upright. You will love your neighbor. You will be honest. You will keep away from evil deeds and the bad company. Resist the Devil. You will be like God. God is pure and holy. He does not like dishonesty. He shuns evil.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

The Second preference is "Love your neighbor as yourself." Apostle John combined those two commandments and teaches us that we can't fulfill one commandment and neglect the other. That means someone may say that I love the Lord, but I cannot love that particular person. That means he cannot fulfill one commandment while neglecting the other. According to 1 John 4:20 - 21 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Many times Satan tempt us to follow one commandment and forget the other. Let us, therefore, understand that Satan is trying to trick us and taking possession of our life.

So if you are not in a loving relationship with your brother, you can't be in peace with your God. Loving God and neighbor should go hand in hand. If you put all efforts to follow one commandment and neglect the other means you have broken the entire law. Many times we do this mistake. So, let us follow the entire teaching of Jesus and lead a fulfilling life.
