Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 22, 2009
Greetings loved ones!
Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from 2 Tim 2:3. "Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus."
Today I would like to share with you the commentary from my devotional:
"Of nothing may we be more sure than this; that if we cannot sanctify our present lot, we could sanctify no other. Our heaven and our Almighty Father are there, or nowhere. The obstructions of that lot are given for us to heave away by the concurrent touch of a holy spirit, and labor of strenuous will; its glow, for us to tint with some celestial light; its mysteries are for our worship; its sorrows for our trust; its perils for our courage; its temptations for our faith. Soldiers of the cross, it is not for us, but for our Leader and our Lord to choose the field; it is ours, taking the station which He assigns, to make it the field of truth and honor, though it be the field of death." J. Martineau
Here the author is challenging God's kids to endure whatever lot God gives us, recognizing that our lot is often given to grow us spiritually and emotionally. How often do we see our "lot" as a curse or a "black cloud" which seems to follow us no matter where we go?
Nonetheless, God has allowed these situations, good and bad, to occur in our lives so we can put our trust in Him and worship Him because of who He is, not because of the blessings he bestows on us. Salvation through Christ Jesus is WHY we worship and praise God. Everything else is "icing on the cake!"
Today, choose to worship simply because the gift of salvation has been given to you. Worship the Giver of the gift and watch the black clouds begin to disappear!
Have an awesome day in Jesus! Go MAD in someone’s life today!
Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!
Blessings,
E.
