“The length of our days is seventy years or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow for they quickly pass, and we fly away.”

Psalm 90:10

How short is a man’s earthly life. The Bible declares man’s lifespan is only about seventy years or eighty depending upon his strength. Man’s life is just a glimpse of moment in eternity. It quickly flies away. Having this reality, how should we then live our lives ?
>
Last week we celebrated memorial services in our church for the funeral of our former pastor of twenty years. The funeral services conducted serve as a memorial or tribute to our pastor’s ministry of more than forty years. It is such a great thing to realize how much lives were impacted and inspired to serve Christ by our former pastor. Throughout the memorial services we are reminded of this message :
>
“Only one life will last, only what is done for Christ.”
>
In our earthly life , we may choose to pursue many great endeavors that will make us really great by this world standard, but do these tasks count for eternity or will these endeavors reap us eternal rewards ? Or will also be bound into oblivion by men?
>
We have only one life to live, the option is ours to make it count for eternity. Should we spend our lifetime working tirelessly for material wealth and possessions that we should also leave to others when we die ? Or should we invest our lives in making Christ known to the lost world and gain our prize in heaven. Always be reminded that only one life will last for eternity, only what is done for Christ as it is written :
>
“The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
>
What matters most is not to be great by this world standard, but to be counted as God’s worthy servant whom God can commend one day,
>
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
