Religion From My Brain
Because of what happened to me when I got my toes amputated I can never deny that there is a higher power. To learn more about that you will have to read that blog when it is available.
Needless to say the one I call God has saved my bacon more than once. I can't but believe that my God has a reason too keep me around, I am but a tool to be used to exercise the will of God.
John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/6.28?lang=eng#27.
Some might take that to mean they need to pray at the alter and worship continuously.
I take that to mean that I should live life and let God steer the direction. I try to say yes to any and all opportunity's that aren't illegal or just so stupid that anyone can see through them. sometimes I play those ones out a little just to see.
My problem with organized religion is that they all preach John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/John-13-34/
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/John-13-35/
Organized religion adds a comma and says except any number of groups,Gays, Atheists, unconverted prisoners, and people who just wont believe that the world began 5 million years ago should are excluded from the love mentioned in John 13:34.
My Bible does not exclude anyone as far as deserving of my love. But unlike Jesus I do find it hard to love everyone I meet. Sometimes I bite my tongue so as not to say it's a good thing Jesus loves you because no else will.
If you get right down to it, if it was up to me who did or did not get in to Heaven then I would be the first sinner thrown down the chute to Hell. Thankfully I am not and never will be the person that decides who does and does not get in to heaven.
Most organized religion take sexual morality and Tithing from the Old Testament and tell you the rest doesn't matter. Seems odd to me. Just Imagine if there wasn't a new Covenant and we had to burn sheep and goats to atone for sin in this age. You wouldn't be able to breath from the smoke created on Sunday morning.
Don't get me wrong I still think you need to give back at least ten percent. I just don't think you need to give it to a church that builds a cathedral across from a homeless shelter, I don't even think it has to be in cash, giving away time and talent should count for something.
My favorite Scripture from the Bible is Hebrews 10:16-18. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/heb/10.16?lang=eng#15
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
I take this to mean that if you give yourself to God he will give you all the knowledge he wants you to have, there is no real need to read the Bible (yet I recommend it) or wait for some preacher to get to the part of the Bible that is important for you.
Also Hebrews 10:18 is important' there is no more offering for sin." Notice this ends with a period and not a coma, Sin has been paid for and there is no works or money that can get you forgiven of something you were already forgiven for.
About giving yourself to God. I would like to say I have done this but it was more like
" God you saved my sorry ass in that field that day even though everyone of my hopes and dreams would be crushed because that accident, what ever happens from here is your fault so bring it on or I am going to sit and watch television. As you will see he brought in on.
While I am on the subject of religion there is no way that Jesus was white.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Makes me think that Jesus did not stand out, if he was white he would have stood out like a red pepper in a jar of pickles.
