The Three Masters: The Taskmaster

I do not expect many to agree with my viewpoint here; nor do I seek the approval of men in reference to the comments already put forth in my earlier writings in this series. The truth is this, there are too many believers stuck in the dimension of being made in the image of man, failing to venture on in their growth and development, positioning Christ as their MASTER. People have become promoters of their church, their ministry, their man of God, their preacher; however, is this truly the allegiance we are to have? I am persuaded that we, as preachers, do God a disservice when we fail to push the flock towards intimacy with the Lord, Jesus the Christ.

In this study my objective is to begin this journey in observing the three masters of scripture; highlighting the distinction between each.

The word of God is a wonderful compilation of God’s mind and His eternal purpose toward mankind. There are so many that read the word of God, keeping a literal spin on such a spiritual message. The deeper messages of the scriptures are often left un-disturbed by the pulpit, giving the sheep motivational nuggets of mingled truth, week after week.

Just as there are three courts to which we must pass through in our approach unto God and His throne (authority); there are also three dimensions of “master” that is guaranteed to touch our lives as we walk from earth to glory.

1) THE TASKMASTER

2) THE SCHOOL MASTER

3) THE MASTER

The Dimension of THE TASKMASTER

The Kingdom of God is about progression, in Him we live, in Him we move, and in Him we have our being; to settle for only living in the kingdom, deprives you of moving in the kingdom.

If you, on the other hand, settle for only living and moving in the Kingdom, you will come short of having your being or true identity in the Kingdom; settling for some denominational dog tag, that will peradventure stunt your growth from becoming a manifestation of son-ship; a son (His Offspring) ruled by the Holy Spirit. Notice I did not say, ruled by the church and its systems, its programs, and its order.

In the dimension of THE TASKMASTER, there exists the place of bondage. Remember when Israel was in bondage to Pharaoh? Under Pharaoh, the leadership is oppressive, and weighty are the task, harboring meaning only towards the one oppressing the laborers of brick and mortar. In the dimension of THE TASKMASTER, sin’s cumbersome labor, burdens too heavy to be borne; whereby the laborer only receives the WAGES OF SIN (Romans 6:23), produces death, not life.

Exodus 1:11 – Therefore they did set over them TASKMASTERS to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

Pithom was also known as Heliopolis or the sun god (Ra), one of the many gods of the Egyptians; which by implication, for the purpose of definition, is a metaphor of the “forced labor” of life’s daily mandates to build that which is not the CITY OF GOD! It also speaks of a false light of righteousness that rules over the people that work under its light of influence.

In other words, under the influential pressures of THE TASKMASTER, the sheep (without a shepherd) are under a sin-burden that only produces what is expected by the enemy: A LIFE OF SIN! Metaphorically speaking, a person that is under the forced labor of Pharaoh’s or Satan’s TASKMASTER, finds themselves afflicted with burdens to heavy to be borne; placing upon the laborer a destiny that is not the destiny of the Lord.Israel was a nation that was to rule with God, yet in this text, they are anything but rulers with God; they are laborers under the hand of A HEAVY TASKMASTER!

How many today, find themselves traveling on the wrong destiny track? How many find them self still SLAVES TO SIN? There are people in prison, who should not be there, but because of being under the influence of the wrong master, they were building the wrong city. Because of the sinful nature mankind became drug lords, rapist, murderers, extortionist, adulterers, revelers, children of disobedience and a host of other darkened affluences of the serpent’s seed.

Understand something here, Christ defines for us what categorizes His position as being THE SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP, and it has to do with where you and I enter (see John 10:2). The Lord is THE SHEPHERD to those who have entered the right DOOR of the church; not the right church.

If you are building the wrong city; or cities for Pharaoh (a.k.a. Satan) you are no doubt outside of the door, awaiting the deliverer: THE CHRIST. We are called to be laborers with Christ, yet many of us find our hands abiding in the wrong labor; which means we are working for something or someone, so very far from working WITH THE LORD. The Bible teaches us to labor to enter into His rest.

Under the TASKMASTER the labor is tied to everything but resting. Not only is the dimension of THE TASKMASTER found to have its connection with slavery to sin and the nature of sin, it is also overlaps into church activity that does little to nothing at all, to bring change in the life of the wayward sheep. “For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors [a]peculiarly His own” (Hebrews 4:10 Amplified).

There is worldly system at work, when your belief is tied to what you look like, what you eat, what you wear, what you drive, where you live, what prestigious clubs or church you are apart of; who knows your name and what gives you clout in the world. The order of the TASKMASTER is connected to the un-regenerated self. In other words, you don’t have to be in allegiance with the Secular Humanist Manifesto, in order to be a secular humanist, just be in the category of loving your life more than you love God, and you qualify. Sin is not merely the acts of the sin nature; it is the belief system of it. Look what Hebrews 3:12 says, “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.”

I love this same verse in the Amplified, which says, “[Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.”

This is where it gets a little touchy for those who find themselves aligned with a good church; if you refuse to CLEAVE TO, TRUST IN, AND RELY ON HIM, you in so many words are still in step with the SIN NATURE!

When the beginning stage of salvation takes place in the life of the newly converted, the worse thing to happen is when the newborn’s steps toward the Lord are interrupted with the cumbersome labor of church activity. The many tasks that exist in the church system, all for the purpose of building the landmarks, and monuments of men, all in the name of Jesus, serve as activity designed to keep the sheep preoccupied from the true labor.

“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent” (John 6:27-29).

My friend, this journey is a spiritual one, and the water that comes from the rock must come without the effort of the flesh. Moses (the under-shepherd) smote the rock instead of speaking to it; which is descriptive of what many under-shepherds do in this day. They smite the rock, whenever engaging God’s sheep in works that have very little to do with a spirit filled life.

Christ the Rock is being smote through vigorous labors to build the kingdom of God. How can we build something that already exists? Yet, many church leaders rally us to build the kingdom of God through giving, their preaching, their teaching, their singing, fund raising, church attendance, through fasting, and through so much, much more. The Kingdom of God must be entered and in order to do this there must be a sheep fold that is attentive to the call of The Sender or Messenger (The Holy Spirit). I really like John 6:27-29 in the Amplified version, which reads as follows: “Stop toiling and doing and producing for the food that perishes and decomposes [in the using], but strive and work and produce rather for the [lasting] food which endures [continually] unto life eternal; the Son of Man will give (furnish) you that, for God the Father has authorized and certified Him and put His seal of endorsement upon Him.” They then said, “What are we to do, that we may [habitually] be working the works of God? [What are we to do to carry out what God requires?]” Jesus replied, “This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].”

In order to break free from the TASKMASTER, we must cleave to the Holy Spirit, trust in the Holy Spirit, rely on and have faith in the Holy Spirit. Which leads me to this point, if any follower of Christ is to break free from the labors of the church system and of this world, there has to be a dependency upon the Holy Spirit, which has the assignment of leading the sheep into ALL TRUTH. No pastor, church or ministry has the right to take the place of the Holy Spirit when it comes to calling us toward HIS SEAL OF ENDORSEMENT.

It is the ministry of the Spirit that has been hit and miss in the church, not so much that the Holy Spirit is hit and miss; but the church machine has become so structured in its services, that one must wonder if the Holy Spirit is even present at all. As one that has been a part of the church in many capacities, I find it heartbreaking when I think of the countless souls that have come through the system of the world and of the church being deprived of the true touch of the Holy Spirit.

The hour is readily upon the hungry soul that seeks after the Lord with all their mind, body, heart and soul. With each passing moment the sheep must long for the guidance and love of the shepherd, crying out for more of his love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance; ceasing from the works of the flesh and of the order of men.

Under the order of THE TASKMASTER, instead of being a people that are MASTERED by the LORD Jesus THE CHRIST, many are lobbied into position by strategically synchronize rhetoric to become MASTERS OF TASK in the world and in the church. The world and church system are teaching and promoting individuals to be MASTERS of their “gifting” instead of individuals that are ruled by the indwelling GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Where are the souls, (a.k.a THE ELDERS) who cast their crowns at the brazen feet of Christ, in order to become the OVERCOMERS they are destined to be?

Satan, THE TASKMASTER, is by design, a hypnotist, seducing his followers with whisperings deeply imbedded in the soul, mingled with truth, leading those who fall prey to him, down the path of death and destruction. Satan (the un-holy spirit) mimics everything that God has set in place from A to Z, for the purpose of fooling you into believing that what you behold is PLEASANT TO THE EYES and GOOD FOR FOOD, and something to BE DESIRED TO MAKE ONE WISE (see Genesis 3:6). From the time one is born into the earth realm, he or she is introduced to the TASK-MASTER, of education, parental wisdom, worldly logic, etc, - CHOOSING TO FOLLOW in the footsteps of the Satanic Shepherd who leads with THE LUST THE FLESH, THE LUST OF THE EYE and THE PRIDE OF LIFE. Hear with the ear of the spirit, life comes from THE CHRIST, for HE is THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE; not your degree, or how much money you have in the bank, or what you drive, wear or the size of your house. IN HIM WAS LIFE, and the LIFE WAS (AND IS) THE LIGHT OF MEN!
