The ark of Covenant and other unexplained Mysteries

The ark of covenant and other unexplained mysteries.

The ark of covenant, not Noah’s ark, is an important religious object. People have various theories of the where about of the ark of covenant. It is unusually for such an important symbol to miss without a trace. The ark is so important to the people of Israel because God commanded Moses to build it.

“And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: …And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: …And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat…” exodus 25: 10-22.

It is clear from the above statement that the ark is not just an ordinary object although it was made by men. This is because God said to Moses “And I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat.” It means that the ark served as a point of communication between God and the Israelites yet it was an object made by man.

The mysteries and powers of the ark were mentioned in the Old Testament. The ark was so powerful that it takes special process to touch it or approach it. Even it killed the man that tried to stop it from falling down. The man only tried to hold the ark so that it will not fall yet he was killed. Some people in recent time claim that the ark was so powerful that it radiates light and because of that special clothing was used to approach it.

“And the philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer untoAshdod. When the philistines took the ark of God they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. Therefore neither the priest of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. But the hand of the lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with hemorrhoid, even Ashdod and the coast thereof”’ 1 Samuel 5: 1-6.

Dagon fell before the ark which shows that the ark is more powerful than Dagon. Dagon was humbled and destroyed by the ark. There are some mysteries which maybe difficult to explain. It is not an easy task to explain how the ark could be that powerful when it was made by man. Some people may claim that it is because it was commanded by God or it belongs to the Israelites. However, we know that some pagan objects are powerful and can do some unexplainable mysterious things. Those in the mysteries know that there are mysteries which are not open for all because it could not be understood or it is dangerous.

There is a small kingdom called Abiriba in Abia state Nigeria. They have a God which their fathers solely worshipped before the advent of Christianity. The name of the God is “Kalu” and because the place it is located within the community is called “Ndi Ebe” therefore the God is called ‘Kalu Ndi Ebe.” The God is said to be known by other names by other people. For instance, it is said that the Igbo call it “Amadi oha” while the Yoruba’s have their own name for it. Generally, people call it the “God of thunder” or “the God of Justice.”

During theNigeriacivil war, the Nigerian army was said to set Ndi Ebe on fire which is where the “Kalu” was situated. Every house burnt even a fresh tree close to the alter of ‘Kalu” burnt but the alter, itself, did not burn. The Nigerian army took the main object, just like the ark, which is used by the priest and which people usually see as the Kalu. The object is just irons in a type of bag so, they said. They tried to burn the bag and its content but it radiated the light and used thunder to kill the men. They abandoned it and even some of them came back after the war to admire the God.

Unfortunately the military men did not know that because the God works with light so even the owners of the God do not come close it with light. If by mistake anyone goes close to it with any form of light it will alert the people by radiating the light into their houses and the people will shout, as in unison, “who is it that goes with a light.” There are many mysteries that the God posses which has made it wise that a book be dedicate to it in due time. For instance the God, it is said, could cut down a long tree very close to it and bring it down in a way that it will not touch or spoil his alter. It can reject some eggs given to it as gift if the giver does not meet a certain demand. Normally, the through the eggs above somewhere and if it is the one he wants then he will break it will it was still on the air. But if it is an egg he wants to reject then the eggs will not break, no matter that it hits on a hard surface, rather it will bounce like a football.

People usually go to the God for justice which it does not fail to kill anyone found guilty of a crime especially if the offender fails to confess the crime. There are many such gods and mysteries in Africa and other parts of the world. It is because of the fast and immediate justice that the old African gods can grant that crime was less. That is why some African scholars are of the opinion that the advent of Christianity caused more harm than good because of increase crime rate and disrespect by the youth. This is because of the doctrine of judgment in heaven, forgiveness, and mercy which modern religion showcased. However, the writer thinks that it is not Christianity or any other religion that is the problem but the failure of the people to live in the true spirit of modern religion and what it teaches. Consequently, people commit crime while they are members of various religions because God is now slow to anger.

‘Kalu Ndi Ebe” is still in its rightful position and location even till the present day although the people of the community rarely go to it because of the modern religion. This is because it is now seen as an idol so only those few that are not ashamed of being called pagans still go to it openly while others, even members of modern religion, go to it secretly when they need justice.

The ark of covenant is a mysterious object and as such it is unusual that people do not know its way about. Maybe it is protected somewhere or it is actually lost but even if it is lost, the world should know where and when it was lost because it is one of the most powerful and mysterious religious object that is widely known .

There are many unexplained mysteries and powers like the mystery and power of the ark of covenant. Is the power actually possessed by the objects or the gods used the objects to show their powers? Let us not forget that some people have a human bullet proof by which their body can ward off bullets. That is mysteries the world ( science) has failed to explain and it explantion can only be found by going beyond science

Great Hub but surely this presupposes that the Ark once existed and is therefore lost.

Isn't there also a well documented case that as there is no actual evidence, historical or archaeological that the Exodus ever happened then there may not be an ark to lose ?

Certainly the evidence of Moses as a real person has been called into question on more than one occasion and the story of forty years wandering around lost in an area controlled by the very people they were supposed to be fleeing doesn't make sense either.

So no Moses, No Exodus, No wandering, No hiking up mountains, No Ten Commandments and No box needed to put them in.

No wonder no one can find it !

Thanks Merlin, the fact which we can not deny is that any thing that is so important such as the Ark should not miss without a trace. At least its whereabout should be known, if it is destroyed, stolen or lost. There is need to have it on record yet various theories of its whereabout is stated. I trust more can be done so that we know more about the ark and where it is or what happened to it.

There is also the question; "Did it ever exist in the first place, or was it just another Apocryphal story from the past ?”

The question is reasonable and that it why its whereabout should be known if it ever existed. We are just using the bible statements that it existed. I do not really know what the owner, the Jews, have to say about it. Do you know they stand about its existence?

It is difficult to know it is not a subject I have ever discussed with anyone of Jewish origins, it would be interesting to hear from any Jewish Hubbers we might have around.

My take on the subject is one of historical and archaeological rather than religious, most of what you read starts with the assumption that the Ark actually existed and was lost. In fact most of the older Biblical studies seem to have taken this approach to anything and everything to do with the stories in the Bible. They start with the assumption that they are one hundred percent fact and therefore are true and must be believed.

Unfortunately, back then with the church and religious powers in control of information this was a generally accepted practice. It is not until you challenge the Bible as a historical record of fact that we find it wanting. Now given that the Old Testament is based upon early Hebrew stories and is the founding basis of the Jewish faith then it is highly likely that they are happy with the stories as told.

Factually there is little corroborating evidence in history from other independent sources to substantiate much of what is written in the Bible. This includes was there ever a real person called Moses ? Given his early Royal Egyptian upbringing it seems strange there is no Egyptian record of him or his crimes against them. Then with their economy based upon Slavery why is there no mention of an uprising and a what amounts to a walk out of the slaves. Such a rebellion would not have been tolerated and the slaves would have been massacred.

So if there is no Moses, No Slave revolt there was no Exodus and therefore the rest of the story falls apart piece by piece, No wandering lost for forty years in a place controlled by Egypt, no ten commandments and no Ark to put them in.... The Promised land was already occupied and ruled over by Egypt yet no Governor mention any large nomadic group arriving within his domain.

The whole story only appears in the Bible... Question is was it written as part of some plan to give some legitimacy to a Jewish State ?

Well the hub suggested that the ark existed like the bible said but it also suggested that if it existed then its whereabout should be known. Some people are producing documentary videos to prove that the bible records are facts, even the Noah's Ark and Exodus of the jews. I can remember I watched such documentaries by historicans however they were produced by Christains so I cannot say if it is a total fact or just to support claims. I want to hear the Jews on this but maybe they do not have its record.

Very interesting. I have often wondered about the ark and what has happened to it. The most mysterious thing to me is the fact that its disappearance isnt even mentioned in the Bible. Something so sacred and important yet they never mentioned anything like "uhh hey the ark is gone," or "Oh no! Someone's buggered off with the ark!" - That very fact alone convinced me that the Bible has been edited.

You are right Kentuckyslone. It is questionable why the bible did not say what happened to the Ark. I discussed about it with a friend. He claimed that the Jews still have and that they hid it where no one will see it for security reason. I told him, "you cant be so sure because the jews seem not to know where it is. Moreover the ark is, said, to be powerful that it is not touch anyhow. It is a risk for any one to think of stealing it so I do not think it hidden for security reasons or they say so openly."

Kentuckyslone,

The Bible edited! Go figure !

They have been making documentaries about that for years, someone even had the audacity to suggest that they actually formed an ancient committee to decide what to put in and what to leave out from all the stories they had gathered and copied from around the region.

You will discover that what they left out probably contradicts what they put in. However, as modern archiology and Egyptology would indicate that the whole Exodus story historically never actually happened in is highly likely that the Ark isn't lost but never existed in the first place.

Someone, dreamt up the ten Commandments, thought it was a good idea but he was unlikely to sell them without a good PR story.... Disappear up a mountain for a couple of days and come down in a DAYGLO shirt and say "Hey Guys Look what God gave me !"

After Dawn Brown's Da Vinci code, it became clear that the church decided what to add and what to remove from the bible. The church had to admit it I watched it on discovery. They did not only remove some books but decided to burn them. I think that is not fair because they want to decide what people should believe instead allowing the people to decide what to believe. We can not rightly say if the records in the bible is correct or was made up but someday the world shall know any hidden truth.

I think you are begining to see the light at last, I said ages ago that the creation of religion is a man based power thing.

He who controls information controls the mind, religious leaders did not want the masses to receive any education that did come from or through them.

The Bible is not a record of anything and certainly not a historical record of any events. It is a well chosen book of stories, not even original, taken from around the region.

You are incorrect in saying, " One Day we shall know ..."

We know already, it's just that for so many people to

openly admit that they have been lied to all these years and they fell for it, is dificult.

While others will try and maintain the delusion until their dying breath.

Many people do not only belief that the bible is true but they also call it "the word of God." Some people used the bible to support Mid-East conflict. Therefore, you can't rightly say "we know" only a fool will know and stick to it. You think I am wrong to say "oneday we shall know" I said it because they have always been a debate on the originality of the bible and until many people realizes any hidden truth, if any because we are all making argument, then the truth shall be know for or against the bible.

The truth is we live by information. Everything about the earth remain a mystry, who can really unfold it. God can decie to take away somethings from the knowledge of men. Yes i've heard stories about the bible been edicted. Don't stop me from believing it was edicted for our good. That is if it was really edicted. There are so many wisdom that is beyond human reasoning and understanding.

Thanks Ukefi for joining the hub family. Your comment "if it was really edited" is out of the argument because the church confirmed that some books was not added and people secretly kept some of those books. Editing the bible for your good is not any reason because nobody has the complete right to make decision for anyone. I am not against the bible or any other scripture but I except that all things be made known to people and people can then decide the truth in it.Yet,all is for a reason.Hidden Mysteries
