Transformation of the Soul
Truth needs a soul to ride in on.
Healing old thoughts
When I was seven or eight years old my brother, another friend and myself gathered up several rocks from a newly discovered railroad track. We went from door to door in our neighborhood offering these rocks for 5 cents a piece. We actually sold several of them, along with a few ‘no thank you’. The last house I remember going to we got a strange response. The grownup that came to the door (can’t remember if man or woman) when asked to buy a rock responded by saying ‘I’ll give you 5 cents, but I don’t want the rock’. We went home after that house and I never again remember trying to sell anything after that.
The past holds more onto us than we sometimes realize. One of the ways to see this actively working in your life is the inability to do the things you desire to do. I am talking about good and wholesome things, like desire to better your life.
If you have been unable to accomplish some of the God given desires you have, then why not? You even make plans, work hard, pray, seek council, get others to pray for you but still your results are not what you hoped for. Most of the time we just compromise in our hearts and say it must not be Gods will for me to have that or be that person, ‘maybe He is holding me back because of past mistakes‘. Or how about this one ’I must not be humble enough’ or ‘I must not have what they have’ ‘Maybe I’m not really destined to win in life’ ‘Maybe I should accept things the way they are and not wish for more’. This is just a few of the thoughts we have that justify our lack of success in one area or another.
But what if we are running into something every time we try to change our life for the good. Something or someone throws us back into the place where we just give in to our circumstances, ‘I’ll just stay here, its easier’.
But didn’t Jesus say He came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Doesn’t every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of life.
Back to the story of the rocks. I’m over 50 now and have taken a sales type job to lean away from construction which is what I have done for 30 years or so. I am in the process of changing my life, my thinking, my expectations and my financial situation. Although I remember the rock situation I never knew how it had impacted me.
Subconsciously these are the thoughts that the event fueled that effected my outcome in life. ‘What I have to give is not that valuable’ ‘I have to depend a lot on the pity of others for my livelihood’ ’You are trying to sell something that’s not as valuable as the price you are asking’ ’They can get what you offer themselves’ the railroad tracks were only a couple of blocks away ‘you are trying to get something for nothing, which is deceptive’
I never realized how the way I perceived this incident effected me till the Spirit of God started unfolding it. I never even knew there was a gatekeeper making sure I would not see this, almost 50 years of fear to sale myself, WOW. All mainly because of one event that I read wrong.
This is what John the Baptist and Jesus were after when they said ‘meta-neo’, the kingdom of God is at hand. They were exposing the need to change how we think through and through.
Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty, and the power to be who you were created to be. Circumstances, people and your past have formed your soul or subconscious mind, but now there is a better King on the scene. Holy Spirit is here to transform you to the image of Christ. He will lead us into one who can carry the anointing without timidity.
The real you, the inner child of God has the purest desire and goals that your Father has given you the liberty to achieve. If any man be in Christ he is a new creation, old things are passed away. John implies that you have overcome him (the accuser), the spirit of this age.
These thought patterns in you soul realm, your subconscious mind are thieves of life. They are squatters living on the soil that Jesus’ blood purchased. We got to run them out of our promised land, they are sucking the life out of God given dreams and plans.
These strongholds make advancement seem too difficult, but they are no match for ’Christ in you, the hope of glory’. We must let Christ arise and scatter the enemies of freedom, it is for Freedom that Christ set you free.
