Where did satan come from?

Satan  (The Devil)

Where did he come from?      Who is he?    What is his purpose?

How much power does he have?   What can he do to me?

What can he do for me?

There are many different ideas about where satan came from, who he is, what his purpose is, how much power he has and etc.     But there is only one scriptural answer to each of these questions.    So  let us  look at the scriptures and find the only true scriptural answers to  who this guy really is.

Where did he come from and  Who Is he?

Please stop and read  the first 3 chapters of Genesis before continuing.

If we look at Genesis we find that it is the Creation account of the forming of the heavens and earth and ALL that are on, in or around it.

Gen 1:31-2:2   31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. 2 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.

So we find that God has now created everything.   So if everything has now been created we must be able find every and anything mentioned in the bible here.

So lets look for satan, we know he is called many things, “serpent”, “satan”, “devil”, “accuser”, “adversary”, “spoiler”, “deceiver”, “dragon”, “evil one”,” belial” , “liar” and many more.

If God truly created everything in the beginning of Genesis we should be able to find satan here.

Remember there was nothing and now there is everything, all created by God.

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"   2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"  4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Well hello- here he is , in the garden created for the man by God.   What is he doing here , why would he appear here, this is a special blessed place made for man especially well prepared and peaceful and quiet.   Lets check back and see where he may have entered this creation.

Gen 1:24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Apparently he was created with all the other creatures on the sixth day.  And isn’t this an interesting bit of information --  Gen 2:19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field.

It appears that Adam must have named the “serpent” when he named the other living things.  In other words he had already met the serpent and didn’t realize who he was.    So it appears that satan is in the garden, but he has no authority or power, he has not yet had an effect on the man.

False Teaching Exposed

Now before we go any further we need to address the issue of what some people claim to be the beginning of satan.    There are many that teach that satan is a fallen angel, which is absolutely not true, so before we can go on with the study of the scriptural account of satan‘s beginning we need to show scripturally that it is not possible for satan to be a fallen angel of God.

Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Read these scriptures closely, No scripture contradicts another.  Look at them closely, and go check the context, these scripture mean just what they say so lets  apply them.

Look at this, God created ALL things, principality or power or whatever it is God created ALL.  And He created it for Him.    This means that God has a purpose for creating satan.        But remember, God said that all things He had created were “good” so that simply must mean that satan is “good” for the purpose for which he was created.    We will get to that purpose later.

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.

How could satan  be a fallen angel of God if he “has sinned from the beginning”.

2 Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

If satan was a fallen angel of God he would still be in chains and unable to be roaming around on the earth.

Jude 5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; .

Second   witness that satan would be still bound in chains and unable to be roaming on the earth if he in fact was a fallen angel of God.

Isa 54:16 "Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy.

God clearly says here that HE created satan.

Eph 3:9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ

Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord,  To receive glory and  honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."

And there are so many more scriptures that prove that satan was created by God and for God and for His purposes..     So now we know who this satan is, he is a creation (servant) of God , created for the purposes of God.  And where he came from, he was created by God during the creation week.   We will in the course of this study find out  what power he possesses and  for what purposes God created him .

How can anyone believe  that a once holy angel of God is able to outsmart God and become that powerful devil that many people talk about and teach?    The only reason I can think of is found in 2 Thess 2:9-12

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

They have been deceived and because it is more important to believe what they have been taught than scriptural (God’s) truth, God has sent them the strong delusion and they believe the lie.    What other reason can there be with the preponderance of scriptural evidence that God has indeed created satan for His purposes.

For what purpose did God create him?

God does nothing without a purpose , so what was the purpose in creating this satan.    We will need to again go to the place in Genesis where he first appears to discover his purpose.    Remember God said that everything He created was “good.   Satan is “good” in the sense that he is good at what he was created for, not that he is “good” in the sense of being good.

Gen 3: Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil .

Here it is he is attempting to get the woman (man ) to disobey God.  If God has said everything He has created is good, and we find this satan tempting the  man to disobey God then his purpose must be to be a tempter, to cause the mankind to not obey and follow God.     To as it were, test man’s willingness to follow God and His plan.   If we go to scripture we find that

The following scriptures  and many others confirm this.    So we know he was created to be a tempter.   God Himself tempts no man, so the devil was created to be the tempter that God needed to test (prove) mans commitment to God.

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Matt 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Luke 4:2 being tempted for forty days by the devil.

Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation,

From the following scriptures we see he is our adversary.

1 Tim 5:14 Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15 For some have already turned aside after Satan.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

He is the enemy of our flesh.    The tempter, adversary, deceiver, destroyer, spoiler and at least 25 other names .    Remember in scripture the name is the character of the person.

What Power does he have?

Lets look at satan from a perspective that is seldom used.   According to

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

He can tempt us but only in the areas that we have desires of our own that are not of God.   Can you see where I am going?      If we can understand that satan was created by God to do a job and that he only has the power in our life that we give him by submitting to our desires that he exposes by tempting us.      So if we do not follow thru on those secret desires when he exposes them , He is powerless in our life.   He has the power to tempt, to try to get us to destroy ourselves but no further power unless we give it to him by following through on OUR desires that he has exposed.    All we have to do is submit those areas that are not given to God over to God instead of submitting to satan by following through on our hidden desires and he has NO power.

1 John 3:8 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

What can he do TO Me?

He can tempt and mislead you.    He can expose your hidden desires that are not of God.   He can temp you in situations where you have to make a choice.  He can not do anything to you unless you fall for his schemes as did Eve in the garden.     He cannot “do” anything to you without your consent.    If you make the wrong choice and follow through on the exposed desires instead of crucifying them as scripture tells us to, then you give him consent.    Do you see it?

Gal 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Rom 7:25 So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

What can he do FOR Me?

He can actually help you, if you are truly sold out to the Lord.    But only if you completely understand what power and authority he has and respond properly when he comes on the scene.     In fact I have found the best way to get him to leave you alone is to always stop and look at the situation when he comes on the scene.    In other words when you are being tempted, or find yourself in a situation where you have a choice of doing the scriptural thing or something else.   You stop and say satan get behind me.   You know if it a temptation or a leaning in the wrong direction etc it is NOT from God so it must be from satan.

Matt 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said to him,  "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'"

And you must be ever mindful and on the alert that he will always come to you when it is an opportune time for him.    When you are tired, confused, upset , in other words not really on the alert.    You have to train yourself to always look to God FIRST in every situation, then he will have no power over you.   But he can be an instrument of God , exposing the areas of your life that still must be surrendered to God.

Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Conclusion!

Remember that as scripture says he is like a roaring lion seeking who he may devour.    A lion that is roaring knows that he has no power to subdue his enemy and is hoping to scare his prey so that he may overpower him.     The strong lion that can destroy him enemy is quiet and waiting for the time to strike.    Satan has the wisdom to sneak up on you but because he has no power, he has to rely on enticing you to destroy yourself by submitting to your hidden desires.  There is no reason to fear him UNLESS you have areas of your life you wish to keep from God, areas that you desire to walk in your flesh.   And if that is the case you should be very fearful.

So my dear friend , understand who he is, what his purpose is and ALWAYS submit to God in every situation and satan will never have any authority in your life.    And if or when you do fall, quickly repent and get right with God and you shall be perfected and become a glorious child of our loving God.

1 Peter 5:8- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.  11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Simply?

Satan is a defeated foe, he has NO AUTHORITY over a real born again Christian. But if that christian submits to him by listening and falling for the temptation then he has given him authority and he can then touch you as he pleases.

BUT IF YOU are a born again believer REBUKE HIM AND TELL HIM TO LEAVE YOU and go away in the NAME OF JESUS HE HAS TO LEAVE. He has NO Authority to touch a believer. A church member yes, but a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ NO.

You stopped listening and hearing because it went against your teaching/ beliefs--- but we are not looking at beliefs and teaching here we are looking for truth. A MATURE Christian is always on the lookout for the snares and traps and when satan tempts him to do something that is against scripture his answer should be " get behind me satan" go away and leave me alone, you have no authority here and I will not listen to you. Then the mature believer will ask God ( if he does not see it) what is out of order in his life that caused satan to try to trap him, thereby being as it were"helped" . I never said he was our friend or to be trusted but he can help us see our blind spots if we never fall for his temptations.

simply1 sorry for the delay I did not receive notice of your comment

This article uses scripture in context to show where satan came from and why he cannot be Lucifer.

Here the scripture confirms it.

Lets look at ISIAAH 14. 12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

This scripture is directed to Lucifer. But nowhere in the bible is satan called lucifer. It is a lie of the churches.

Lets see who SCRIPTURE says Lucifer is.-- OK

Scripture always tells us what we need to know if we look for it and here it is in verse 14. 3 It shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve, 4 that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say: SEE Lucifer is the King of babylon-- NOT satan.

for the second part of your question-- look at 1 Peter 2:21

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

ALL authority on heaven and earth was given to Christ. As His disciples we are given the use of His authority. As mankind we have authority over the earth and every thing on it-- see Gen 1:26. and as Christians we certainly have authority over satan, a defeated foe. OF COURSE we have the authority to command him to leave us alone.

your comment about Moses is out of context and out of place as he lived under the OLD covenant.

Celafoe says, "What can he (Satan) do FOR Me?"

" He can actually help you, if you are truly sold out to the Lord. But only if you completely understand what power and authority he has and respond properly when he comes on the scene. In fact I have found the best way to get him to leave you alone is to ...."

Hellooo?! Satan can help me? Not when I am a born again Christian! The Bible is plain that He is my foe! "What can he do FOR Me?" Did you hear yourself? Is this a joke or you are a Satanist?

Another question... If he can help you, why is it that you explain in the very next sentence what the best way of getting rid of him is? This is ridiculous. So according to you, Satan can help me, but not you? Are you making sense to yourself, because I can't see any logic (let alone scriptural soundness) in it.

SimplyI 2 years ago from Ontario, Canada

Ok... My question is about Isaiah 14 where the fall of Lucifer from heaven is explained. You did not include this explanation anywhere. Could you clarify?

Another issue... Where in the scripture are we instructed to talk to the devil? This is ridiculously dangerous. Just because Jesus talked to him, doesn't mean we could or should! Especially that we are not told to do such thing. Even Moses did not dare to rebuke the devil, but said "The Lord rebuke you."

I accept your apology and forgive you. You are welcome anytime as is anyone else to ask honest questions or make valid comments. I do not know it all and do not profess to. And if i am proven wrong (with scriptures only) i will be the first to repent and change. But on the other hand the things I write on I do believe that I have the mind of the Lord on .

Sorry but I cannot apologize to you because you were trashing my God and scripture says "harsh rebuke is for those who forsake the way." At any rate I hope we can put this behind us now and have some reasonable dialog.

Celafoe I say Im sorry for being rude to you. Im sorry if I offended you. Your hubsite is not a joke. Your hubsite is intelligent and informative and you understand and believe the Bible as well as anyone. As the anonymous guy I have to learn to take insults and criticism from others without getting angry. I wont write here again. Please forgive me. Good day.

anonymous 3 years ago

Brenda in case you dont know I was minding my business on another hubsite and this Celafoe guy writes that my comment is trash and garbage just because it doesnt agree with his narrow minded beliefs. Who needs to practice self control now Brenda? I would say this Celafoe guy needs to learn manners. The reason Im rude is because he initially insulted me with his rude and stupid comment. This Celafoe is an arrogant presumptuous ignorant and rude person who thinks that only hes right and everyone else is wrong and if he doesnt agree or if he doesnt like someones comment he behaves like a nasty rude immature child and calls people trash and garbage and he deletes peoples comments. Hes a despicable person and its him who writes stupid trash and garbage and its him who should be deleted. Its too bad you cant see through this persons despicable nature Brenda. I can see through the evil in people. Celafoe needs to learn to keep his mouth shut or he needs to learn manners. If he hadnt made that rude stupid remark to me then I would not be wasting my time here writing on this pitiful joke for a hub. Ive written for other hubs and only Celafoe has been this rude toward me. What does that say about you Celafoe? Ive wasted enough of my time writing to a dunce such as Celafoe. Hes worse than a dunce. Delete my comments if you want Celafoe and insult me all you want. I dont care. Your a pitiful execuse for a man and your a colossal mountain of ignorance and your rude. I can write for other hubs who are intelligent open minded and polite UNLIKE you. This world and humanity are a lost cause. The Devil rules this screwed up world and not a loving a God. I see evil nearly everywhere. The world is a sadsack crapsack hellhole and a horror movie. Ive known this for years.

I do not believe we are going to the original garden of eden per se, but it was heaven and if there had not been the disobedience we would still be there. Metaphorically it is heaven? Are they the same ? different?? who cares what does it matter? what does matter is that we will be in the presence of Him for ever.

I am also sorry you don't see it but that is ok. I still value you and your input. God bless you my sister

I would appreciate it if you would give me the scriptures you use to back up your beliefs to look at.

Brenda Durham 3 years ago

Well, celafoe, I can only say that I still disagree. The preponderance of the evidence in the Bible indicates that Satan is a fallen angel. Yes, angels are created beings too, so that doesn't negate him being a created being. Humans are created beings too; but we are distinctly different from the angels, just as we are distinctly different from the animals.

And while I do agree that we have a choice in how much power we allow the Devil to have over us, I still believe that he is a real being, a being who made a choice to try to rise above God Himself or at least to make himself equal to God. He rebelled and God showed him who was boss! I like that. It is a lesson that many humans should take a second look at, because I've heard even one preacher say that we can be "equal with God"; and he said it with a straight face and wouldn't listen to constructive criticism about it at all.

I understand your points about how Satan was allowed in the presence of God. I don't have a response about that at this time.

If I understand you correctly, you think that Satan was created uniquely as some form of separate being altogether....? I'm sorry, but I just don't see it.

And I do not believe that we're headed back to the Garden of Eden (if that's what you meant by the "garden of God"?)

It's pretty commonplace even for mainstream churches to adopt that idea----that we're gonna be placed in the Garden again.........I just don't believe it. My goal is to get to heaven, not to have a second chance at the Garden of Eden!

Ah....it's interesting talking to you; I'm sorry we can't see eye to eye on this......

Brenda

Let me answer your questions first. Then I will explain .

is every snake the devil? NO Are all snakes the devil? NO There is no proof it was a snake we will assume that it was a snake since we equate serpent to snake. Was the snake the devil ? No not really

Is he different from angels that fell. YES different from angels.

Is he literally a dragon? no

Am I too critical? NO it is important to properly understand scripture and to expose error which this teaching is when compared to scripture. Yes i do understand the symbolism and metaphor etc but that does not mean eveything that is referred to that way is not made clear in scripture.

and since according to me AND scripture , which i will show you, he is not a fallen angel

- what is he? He is a spirit that has limitations. There are only certain things he can do.

He is an agent of God

If you refer back to the article you will see that i gave the scriptures that show God created ALL things that He created satan, and that satan was created for Jesus.

Scripture says He created all things and He says He created satan It follows that satan is a part of His creation. If

he was an angel God would have said so. Go to Job1-8 and 2-3 and you will see that he has access to God and comes in and out of God's presence . I he had been cast out of heaven and was bound in chains as he HAS to be if he is a fallen angel he would not be allowed to come before God and God would certainly not send him on a mission.

If he had been cast down before the creation-- where was he cast down to? as there was no earth before God created it. and if he was cast down before the earth was created where was he and how and when did he enter the earth and specifically the garden? HE WAS CREATED IN THE GARDEN.

If he was a liar from the beginning how could he have ever been an angel? Jn 8-44

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Since Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and satan now has power to only do one thing, Tempt. If you fall for the temptation He now has your permission to take over and lead you to your death. But if you resist and do not fall he has to leave because he has no power over you

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Scripture says he is like a roaring lion for a reason. You will not see the lion that will kill you, the roaring lion has lost his power and so will try to put fear into you by his loud roar but he is not able to catch you. The devil can tempt you make a lot of noise and paint a pretty word picture but he has no real power over you. If you are foolish enough to go into the den of the roaring lion or to freeze in fear then he can defeat you.. Likewise the devil hs no power over you unless you enter his domain by fallin for his temptations. Then he has you.

Rev 12:7-12 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time."

This scripture and Daniel's talks of something that has not happened yet. Read it closely there is no way this can mean what you have been taught. IT IS YET TO COME. And after this happens he will be loosed, not constrained and able to do almost anything-- but he never gives life - he is only capable of bring death. That is why it says he was a murderer from the beginning-- he caused the murder (death) of Adam and Eve.

What i see in Genesis is God had a plan. His plan was to never allow the knowledge of Good and Evil to be loosed on the earth. But He knew that when He gave man to free will that he would fall. So He created the garden and everything in the world in it. Including satan. As long as the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was not eaten, there was no "knowledge" of evil so for all practical purposes there was NO evil. So even satan was not evil in the garden, was not known, had no power or purpose but to "test" the man. but once fruit was eaten then they knew the difference, evil was recognized and now there was both good and evil and the devil was loosed.

Thank God that He also had a plan to provide for our redemption. And we are slowly making our way back into the garden of God. I would suggest you reread the article after you read this.

I hope this has answered your questions. If not, ASK. Thanks for the excellent and honest questions

I will leave this last one of his up so people can see what he really is. I think I know who it is, I gave him scripture to refute one of his posts that had only "i believe" as documentation. I added what I believe "i dont care what you , me or anyone believes, I only care what scripture says."

And then He followed me a couple places under his name trying to provoke me into making a mistake, then had a friend join him against me. Since that didnt work he has decided to show his real self as anonymous.

I will not waste my time with this kind of people.

ananymous--since all you have to contribute is drivel, nothing of value , no scriptural content and all that while hiding behind a false name -- i think i know who you really are but at any rate i will just delete what you have to say as it is of no value.

If you choose to have a scriptural discussion under a real name i will do that otherwise buzz off

I'm getting ready to turn in for the night, but will be back (God willing) another day to converse more if you're willing.

I was adding to that when my time ran out to edit comment!

Since Satan is not literally a snake,

and since he's not human,

and since he's not (according to you) a fallen angel,

then what do you think he is?

Brenda Durham 3 years ago

Yep, God created everything.

Even the snakes.

But let me ask you this-----is every snake the Devil?

I'm sure we'd agree that they are not.

Scripture indicates that indeed Satan is a fallen angel.

But if he isn't (according to you), and the snake in the Garden was Satan, then are all snakes Satan?

Then what is he?

Is he something different from the angels which fell from heaven?

Is he literally a dragon as Revelation calls him? (Revelation 12: 3,4)

I don't think so.

The dragon in revelation is revealed to be Satan in subsequent verses. (See verse 9)!! There he is called the dragon, and the serpent, and the Devil, and Satan.

Yes, the Scripture speaks about Satan being chained.

But it also speaks about him being "loosed a little season"....(Revelation 20)

So honestly, I believe you're being way too critical about the interpretation that most people believe in. You're not taking the Scriptures into context overall, nor are you seemingly understanding the metaphor and symbolism of the Bible.........

I do not know who that man is as I do not follow men.

This is my own as given to me by the Holy Spirit. I do not care about the opinions of men . If you believe it is incorrect then give me scripture in context to refute it. a nasty comment such as yours hold no value

Have you been listening to Roy Masters? He twists his words into pretzels as well as you.
