Why Genesis Matters!

In the beginning God created..... What does that really mean to you? and Why is it so important? I won't take up to much time writing because I believe every Christian should view the videos here.

Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Read that again it's says MIND! Nowhere does the bible ever say have blind faith, he says "test everything", but when its comes to science and creation we turn a blind eye and believe what fallible men say about Our infallible God.

1st Timothy 6:20 — "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane andvain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called." Evolution is not science, but it's called science, ie so-called science

Genesis is the most imporant book in the bible and I find we as Christians take it for granted, so that's what led me to really put together this hub.

There are several other Christians who have written on this subject and did a great job so I'll be recommending their work as well.

God Bless you, I love ya!

I like this.

I agree Genesis is hugely important.

Genesis 1: 1 has always been my favorite verse.

You make good points on many things and the videos do as well.

I'm sure no bible believer would say otherwise about Genesis being important. I wonder though if some people have the impression that without complete understanding in these areas of the bible that this prevents them from being a child of God?

What knowledge is necessary for that?

Well it's not a requirement to be a YEC, but if you believe in Jesus, He often referred to Genesis and the literal account.

It's my understanding and my belief that confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart that he is risen brings the new birth and salvation. That's the answer i hoped to hear because most people have very little knowledge of God or biblical things when they ask God to save them.

As far as YEC, is that your religion or denomination?

I’m non-denomination. I go to a bible preaching and believing Christian church.

You are right Genesis is somewhat neglected. I think that much of the Old Testament is. Maybe it's laziness because the teachers would have to study Hebrew and Aramaic, instead of just Greek. Jesus is all through the Bible. So isn't salvation. But what you find, the strengthening of our basis undergirding as Christians is very important. Much of that is in Genesis. Love you Pammy. Bob.
